This inspires me to listen to my cds on my home theater and not just in my car or crappier stereo.

July here in the USA Midwest and I’m still listening to these. Thanks for shedding light on these selections, John. 🎵

Hi John, I really like what you're doing here. The music that I discovered via your channel, and especially the Vinyl search in Berlin, and this one, that is absolutely fantastic. I like watching the video's, I like listening to you because you bring it wholeheartedly, although I cannot afford a lot of what you show :-) But that doesn't matter, it is a superb channel, so keep on doing what you do. Now and then this kind of music that you like vids. I have a lot of Cocteau Twins stuff, but Otherness was not one of them. Thank you for that. Also Biosphere is on my list! And the last couple of weeks, "Car Car Car" of DJ Hell is almost on repeat here :-)

If I may. I'd like to add Max Cooper on the list. His album named 'One Hundred Billion Sparks', 'Emergence' and even 'Yearning for the Infinite' are simply put. Candy for the ears. He's known as a sound architect in the electronic music industry.

Anything from Robert Henke is going to be fantastic. SAW V.2 by Aphex Twin is such an amazing listening experience, especially alone at night. I got it when I was in high school and it took me away during listening. Fantastic.

If any track in my library conjures images of the arctic or Antarctica it’s ‘Garbage Vletrmx21’ by Autechre. It could even be music from another world. If it’s heat you’re after then it’s the steamy ‘Lanzarote’ by Speedy J.

That Monolake album though! Fantastic stuff.

*THIS IS A TEST* -- With this video, we are trialling a new way of doing things: the comments section below has been switched ON but will be *moderated by a third party* who is under strict instruction not to approve racist or sexist remarks, URLs, (the seeds of) conspiracy theories or the unsubstantiated ramblings of grumpy geezers. If this test goes well, we will consider activating third-party comment moderation on other videos. The upshot? You have the possibility to leave a comment below the video but I don't get tied up in comment moderation and can stay focussed on making the next video, the next podcast and managing the Darko.Audio website and Patreon. I am not here. I am elsewhere.

Thank you John. I like your channel and your attitude. It works for me. Never knew where to start with electronica and thoroughly enjoying Biosphere's Substrata. I'll be diving in to the previous Electronica posts on your site for new sounds too. Thanks again.

Really enjoyed that chat John, thanks. I'll be enjoying some of these while holed up (with a cold) in cold, dark and wintery Manchester. I can relate to your thoughts on not being tracked too, my primary format these days is locally stored FLAC files. Another good reason for not relying too heavily on streaming platforms is the environmental cost. I recently read (in research done at Keele University) that manufacturing a CD and its case generates the same amount of CO2 as using a streaming platform for just 5 hours (a vinyl record is equivalent to 17 hours). Downloaded digital files are clearly the way to go from that point of view.

i would recommend Alec Empire "Low on Ice" - ice cold but superb ambient & downbeat from the Atari Teenage Riot member.

The tracks from the Cocteau's "Otherness EP" also seem to be included in the "Treasure Hiding: The Fontana Years" box set - which is on Spotify at the moment. I wasn't aware of these remixes by Seefeel and they are really good

Nice selections. Cant wait to listen to them. Those CDs also offer better quality than a typical stream technically.

I agree with your view about listening to the Cocteau Twins on headphones - especially with your eyes closed.

I came for the audio reviews...but stayed for the intelligence of the music reviews. Huge Cocteau Twins fan myself and always interested in electronic music that doesn't suck. (Most does). I'd love to hear your recommendations for stuff with beats too. Ps: have you heard Rain Trew Crow?

Hi John! Sitting on my terrace listening to biosphere substrate in the summer rain in Berlin is quite fitting, too. Will try it in Winter time as well. By the way, like your channel very much.

I don't travel in audiophile circles (mostly because the benefit-to-pissing away money ratio doesn't work for me), but do audiophiles need to be encouraged to listen to electronic music? Do they not listen to it (as if there's one "it" to electronica) already?
