This is a great subject to discuss and continue since there are many well mastered/pressed standard releases out there and many of which are not always by popular bands. Some of my best sounding non-audiophile records are by smaller bands who produced great vinyl releases. One group in particular, but certainly not a small group, is Stereolab. Their recent reissues, especially Dots & Loops, Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Mars Audiac Quintet are absolutely stellar, everything you want from an analogue pressing to bring the most out of the amazing music. Cheers!

Sadly my recent purchase of the Daft Punk album was riddled with marks on the first disc side A, so it had a lot of pops and cracks in several songs. A clean helped a little but it can't fix actual marks. Unfortunately the seller (who will remained un-named) did not offer to replace and just tried to tell me it was a cheap pressing (and as it was sealed, not his problem) when compared to other audiophile vinyl releases! Totally agree on Harvest and The Wall, they are both fantastic releases!

That’s what makes the blue note releases so great. Great sound at good price. I know mofi cost more but you get wonderful sound. I do hope they don’t give up on their r3gular releases. They seem to be going more into the onestep direction. Not all of us want or can afford a 125$ US for music. Guess I’m getting off topic. Nice work Michael.

Wonderful topic. Today arrived my Music On Vinyl album of The Interstellar Soundtrack. A sight to behold: sturdy jacket, clear vinyl double lp of good quality and no crackles, tics and pops whatsoever. That last thing alone is getting very rare these days. The amazon price of €30,= for a double album is a bargain. Sound quality is very very good.

Fun fact about that Daft Punk album. They released their Random Access Memories album in Wee Waa, NSW Australia they held their record release party at Wee Waa showground. Wee Waa is in the middle of nowhere, it has a population of about 2000 people, none of which would have even known who Daft Punk were. It is a small cotton farming town. I have no idea why they chose this place but it's so Daft punk

Neil Young…, I saw yesterday "Echo in the Canyon" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4O5d3WHfaeIotU) and fucking loved it. Informative, entertaining, amazing music… all good. And Jakob Dylan, man, great presence and performance. A feel very good documentary. Regarding this video… Michael! Do more. I have the thesis that there's no reason for a regular record sound bad. I understand the audiophile records one or two notches above, but not a regular record one or two notches below. How incompetent a producer or an engineer or a press can be? And the musicians have no pride in their own music and sound? Learn the shit. Someone says that in "Echo in the Canyon" I can't remember if it was Stephen Still, but they decided to learn how to engineer and produce. That's probably why Neil Young has the sound you keep describing.
