Excellent video! Love all the points you made. ☺️ I did transcription and had a similiar experience. The audio files were so terrible. I also think we’re getting to a point where technology can do a lot of that work so I only see the transcription market going down. As much as people want to ‘work anywhere’, I think (unless you have a job already transferable to digital work) seasonal jobs are a excellent way to get started. Yeah, you don’t have ‘full control’ of your location. But the first few months of Vanlife is just learning to live in a van and not adding chasing Wi-Fi just to work on top of that is proably a better way to get started. Then you can use your freetime to find your perfect digital work mix and match. The true success stories (like you) experiment and find their own way.

And your main message: follow your bliss--do what you love, and its more likely to work!

I agree, its waaay oversaturated. Brought the whole camping experience down by people alwyas shioving cameras in their faces. But its the sign of the time I guess. These Yters NEVER tell you how much they make. And when these vids starts off with 'this vid is sponsored by..." It just takes away from the genuiness of what YT started out as, I just fast foreward through that bullshit. Get to the content.
@TheDawnofVanlife2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreywhitaker5154 There are lots of ways to make money online that's not video on KZbin tho. Probably less then 5% of the people with cameras in their faces actually live fully and completely off that income. Even if they make money, they are likely not living off of it. I have a friend who's a travel vlogger but makes more money from columns she writes for her side job then KZbin videos. I think the best online jobs is the job you were already doing transfered to an online space (if you can). Like I know a project manager who works totally online. Great job and when she turns the computer off, she can enjoy travel without worrying about how much she's filming it for the Tube.
@jeffreywhitaker51542 жыл бұрын
@@TheDawnofVanlife I totally agree. But I was aleways curious as to the YTbers that have like 100K or 500K scribers make in a month.
@TheDawnofVanlife2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreywhitaker5154 It’s not subscribers so much as views. I mean subscribers and views have a symbiotic relationship, but someone with 20k subs turning out consistent videos (that are watched by a consistent audience) with good sponsorship deals and maybe a Patreon or some other membership thing could easily be financially competitive with someone who had 50k subs with a loyal audience but doesn’t turn out much content and hasn’t branched out to any other revenue streams except Ad Revenue from KZbin. And anyone who has gotten to that 500k or more level probably branched out to other sources of income built off their KZbin following long before that. So while they are making YT Revenue in high numbers, they are likely making MORE from brand deals and sponsorship and other sources of income. It’s rare that someone that big is just depending on YT revenue anymore.

@J R yea bro don’t do it now wait till this ice or ev shit get sorted out but if u want in now you’ll still be able to do so but gas is a major issue right now. Like they require 96 inches & the van has i think 120 something inches but my next build gonna put a king to queen for my living quarters & the back half just one load single orders/bathroom. They got new portable showers & reg bucket & door open vibes for me. But you’re def on the track. Most orders are just one pallet anyway. Unless u wanna murphy the bed 🤔 yea honestly murphy the bed so full 120 something inches.

A few notes...if you don't already have a degree, and are willing to become a New Mexico resident, undergrad tuition is free if you go to a NM university (highly recommend CNM since they work with Intel quite a bit). Also, have you looked into doing an apprenticeship with Earthships? Not sure if you're near Taos but they used to offer guidance on off grid living (water collection and solar grids) in exchange for manual labor. Just a thought. When it comes to Print on Demand merch. Nate also said as a minimalist trying to sell people things he honestly doesn’t think they need isn’t something he’s keen on doing. Like for certain channel types I get it, but Vanlife is all about NOT stocking up on junk with no practical use. There’s only so many travel mugs and t-shirts a person needs. So even if you argue a travel mug is useful, how many other channels are shilling the same cup with a different label slapped on it?
@ChristinaColoradoan2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDawnofVanlife I'm not really saying that, I certainly don't need another cup but I do wear clothes everday, therefore I always need clothes even living my minimalist lifestyle. Not trying to be argumentative, I'm a friend and am enjoying this channel 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
@TheDawnofVanlife2 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinaColoradoan How often do you really ‘need’ clothes though? Halfway decent clothes have a LONG shelf life. I have totally bought merch I didn’t need to support a KZbinr. It’s rare, but I’ve done a hoodie, for example, I still have and bought 3 years ago. Still in great shape. There’s no ‘need’ reason to replace it. Even if I always need clothes you don’t really *have* to replace them that often. Marketing is basically trying to give people imaginary reasons why they need stuff they don’t is kinda my point. And some people just don’t like doing that. (No hate to the people that earn that way, we all have our thing). And there’s nothing wrong with having Shirts or a magnet or sticker (for example) for people who want them and not necessarily pushing it but just having it exist. But it’s more like it’s a ‘it’s here if you want it’ thing and not necessarily to turn a profit.
