I think the effects on CZ benefit from more budget/skill and more importantly a pause in speaking as the effect plays so the effect and especially any sounds with the effect don't distract from what's being said. If you can't match their budget at least give your effects time to breathe if you want to use them. That may break the normal flow and pace fans have come to expect from you.

Exactly. I come to this channel for the clear, straightforward narration of the game. The visual effects can be great for other channels but I think you should embrace what makes your channel unique rather than try to add elements that others channels do right. Embrace your difference, people come to your channel because they value this difference.

I did really enjoy the visualization of the stack! The animations are fine, but I think consistency will be key. Both which effects to use and keeping track of the effects. I don't think the "Tap to indicate swinging" is particularly necessary, I'd rather have an indicator of where the attacker is going. I'm interested to see how the animation will work for complex combats, which we didn't see much of this game. He did a great job! I'd be interested to see how the process evolves over time!
@Tehnameless12 жыл бұрын
I second removing tapping and simple indicator for where the attacker is going, adding that indicating tapping (as well as new counters, etc) removes the middle card too quickly, which gives me less time to pause and read/admire a new card. Trying new things is always welcome!
@travislannoye82442 жыл бұрын
The point about "consistency is key" is, well, key here. One of the best things about Muddstah's channel is the consistent quality production. I respect the desire to try things out, but I wouldn't rock the boat too much. Case in point: the sound effects and the visual sacrificing the land to Roiling Regrowth were a bit much. It was nice to see which creatures were attacking, but I'm not sure how that model would work with a larger combat.
@obliviouslich17222 жыл бұрын
10:45 the Mindless Automation could not be sacrifice this way. Vorinclex halves the amount of +1/+1 he would gain, and thus, he wouldn't had enough counters to sacrifice himself.

Omg that hammer made me spill my coffee I appreciate the extra effort on the editing, but you have to make up your mind about what experience you want to provide So far, with both your voice, editing style and background music, you were going for something very relaxing - which is a great and fitting choice. With these new editing addition it feels like the rest in still on line with your previous style, but the extra sound effects makes it look like you also want an over the top and exciting experience similar to what Game Knights do. Which is also fine, just different. However having both together is pretty much offsetting, which made me strongly react to this strong hammer noise . If I would give my opinon I would tell you that sometimes less is more. Keep it chill and relaxing as you always did, I really like it that way. No need for frivolous animation or cartoon noises

Yeah, but ol' Colin was getting a little chummy with his draws after daddy clex hit the field. He shouldn't have been able to continue to draw with the automaton, because Clex daddy would have only put 1 counter on automaton, which requires 2 to be removed in order to draw. The table wasn't paying attention to the board. Edit: My mistake, instrument of bards puts to hand, not battlefield, dunno why i'd expect a 4 mana ability that's a jank version of Yisan's to be just as good as Yisan's, silly me.

I think the thoroughness of showing what each card was doing was very good. I liked that even if a card had been previously shown to trigger every turn it was still displayed just because it helps to remember what exactly they do if it's a card you're not familiar with. Fun game and great to see Shirei in action and piloted well. Also my first time seeing Elenda since the rule change and it looks like an interesting deck. For the new visuals (and sounds), it’s cool to see new things being tested, but I wasn’t a fan. One of the best aspects of your videos for me has always been the restraint in your editing - they are relaxing to watch and let you focus on the game. There also a lot going on and the size of the animations, particularly the tapped cards and the stack interactions, as well as the unpredictable movement at times makes it harder to focus on the play state. But like I said, nice to see new things and thanks for the great content.

I like it both with the visuals as well as without. I 100% agree that the soundeffects hurt the chill vibes (I dont know if people have told you, but you have a very relaxing/NPR-esque voice) I liked a few of the visual reminders of which certain triggers were, especially for cards I dont see as often, and I would like the potential clarity it would add to stack triggers. One thing thats a bit jarring was, when creatures are attacking, they are always BIG, where as when a card is played its BIG then small. The attacking might've been smoother if they were shown in the smaller format. Either way, I appreciate that you guys are experimenting and playing around with the format.

A neat interaction wit shizo is that he only needs to see the creature dying at one attack, meaning minus counters work on brining bigger cads deck. Yawgmoth is insane in that deck by not only being a sack outlet, but letting you bring cards back like carry.

I like the effects when they are contributing to the narrative in a simple way; e.g. the fetch dissolving into the land they get, the stack interactions, etc. I didn't think the tapping when attacking contributed much, but I think it could help clarify which creatures are attacking who if edited differently. I am also in agreement about the sound effects - not that they were bad, but they took away from the narration and I found them to be distracting. Also I'm not if the card reader was bigger this time, but I found it to be more dominant on the screen on this time? Maybe I was just more aware of it this because of the animations. All this said, I also love the simplicity of your videos, and I think that's what makes them unique in the sphere of commander gameplay content.

Kolvori is a nice counterpoint to Reki in the "green legends matter" deck: where Reki is draw in the CZ, Kolvori is ramp (and some card draw) in the CZ. Legends tribal is best tribal. what a great game, never seen a shirei deck and man that looks like alot of fun. As for the editing I enjoyed the background music and the tapping of cards to denote attacking, however tapping shouldn't be used for blocking to prevent confusion. As for all the wacky effects for random stuff, I think they're alright in moderation and used for big fancy stuff and not for basic actions like cracking lands and pinging with a creature. Otherwise, a great time.

I think part of why Elenda may not be as common of a commander for Aristocrats is on her release it was still the old rules on how commanders interacted with the graveyard. So she wouldn't ever get her on death trigger back then and I think she's only had the one printing.

@03thinking2 жыл бұрын
Oh my, those Shirei and Elenda decks are awesome, I would love to play against them! About the effects, for me, I like the initiative but it seemed a little random when/where they happened, like one fetch land has visual and sound effects when used to fetch but the other fetch land got nothing, and as others have said, the sound effects are more difficult to fit with the speech flow, like when the scorpion has attacked [sometimes with sound effects and others without any sound effect] . I loved to see the cards tilting for attacking though! Love your work, huge fan of the channel, I hope to play against you one day.
@Simsystwistedmind2 жыл бұрын
I honestly think that the reason we don't see many Elenda decks is because of the bad first impression we were given of the card. When she first appeared in commander, she was unable to effectively access her death trigger abilities. The format rules had to change for her and other similar commanders to be effective but by that point the damage to her reputation had already been done.

My critique for the effects is that, if they're gonna happen, they need to be faster and snappier, particularly the sacrifice effects. And if the sound is going to be kept, which I did not enjoy, they also need to be quick, and instant, with a lower volume, otherwise it was a nice viewing experience, and the gameplay was great.
