I think it's the lighting because in real life it's a lovely enclosure :) I've been many times growing up and have watched it improve year upon year. It has even won awards!

If you actually go there the enclosure is spacious and bright :) they have plenty of trees and branches to strip for bark, lots of green leaves to eat, and you often see them playing. It's lovely :) I have been there on many occassions!

chester is a breeding zoo most of their animals don't stay there long term so the enclosure space is reasonable, the lions and the elephants probably have the smallest enclosures :( but they are working to make them better all the time. they are all happy animals, if they were not they would not breed.

that looks like a very sad enclosure for 9 elephants. Why do we continue to not do better when it comes to elephants? Id never go see these poor animals.

I work in Chester and also go the zoo quite often and it is a nice enclosure but its the idea of captive animals that is sad though I'm guilty of enjoying it plus its good for endangered species but otherwise I'm not sure

Why wouldn't you go? It's the ticket sales that pay for the food and facilities that these animals need.

Thank you for these image of birth. However, despite the good job of zoo employees, I find it extremely sad to see elephants who live 50 years or more, are locked up in an enclosure even if it is large and well laid out. Nothing can replace the natural environment in which they live in a herd and move to discover the natural fauna full of greenery in the African and / or Asian regions. Imagine living 50 years in an enclosure without having seen a single natural lake, grow and grow out of the lush, tree-filled forests that elephants roam and live surrounded by all your peers in harmony and at the whim of the births that are celebrated between female elephants as the most beautiful gift of life. Their incredible family spirit makes them protect themselves and are united by family ties and live in harmony.

Well, that is TERRIBLE. You're not thinking right. Asian elephants live in populated villages (at least some of them) and some of these villages are just the same length and width.
