Despite using more power, the AMD system runs cooler and quieter. Better performance with better acoustics and thermals is more important than using 40 more watts. Dont think u would notice a 40 watt diff in your monthly electricity bill.

Finally! At least someone is using the latest Cynebench! And not the version from 2023. BTW, how did You managed to use only 70W from the 115W power CPU (turbo mode) from the outlet during the test? Looks very Intel'ish. Power limit from the manufacturer? Other videos on YT shows the same 185H CPU with an Asus NUC 14 Pro+ draw about 140W and still loses to the AMD Ryzen AI 370. And how the hell 370HX CPU package draws 90W??? It's impossible! It's a 55W CPU!!!

All the testing was done at out of the box settings from the manufacturer. Geekom went with a good balance of power and performance, while Beelink seems to have just went with maxed power. Both systems are power limited by the included 120W power supply which is why the the Intel has limited turbo boosting.

Hi, thank you for your review. I would like to ask you, at 13:26, when you say "we still see some typical AMD challenges" do you mean that usually AMD processors do have some compatibility issues with Resolve or other SW? I'm quite new hear and would like to buy a new PC for video/photo editing and would like to incurr in this kind of SW glitches if known.

AMD graphics cards, while excellent for gaming, are often less favored for professional photo and video editing due to limited support for specialized software optimizations. Many industry-standard creative tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop, are heavily optimized for NVIDIA’s CUDA cores and proprietary technologies like NVENC for hardware-accelerated rendering and AI-based tools. AMD GPUs lack these CUDA cores and rely on OpenCL for acceleration, which is less widely supported and sometimes less efficient. Additionally, AMD’s driver support and stability for professional applications are occasionally seen as less robust compared to NVIDIA’s Studio Drivers, designed specifically for creative workloads.

one of the things I liked was how much quieter the ser9 was at max loads. What are the power draws and fan noise levels at with average loads like media playback and idle time between tests. Would you feel comfortable with these in a studio during a live stream? would the fan noise annoy a family watching their favorite channels on youtube? is the idle power draw less than a 9W light bulb

Why am I buying so many mini pcs >.< I have a ser8 96GB/8TB now for file storage and vms and as an ollama node (also got hardware encoding working with jellyfin/vaapi), I want to get a m4 mini for video editing and the SER9 would be super amazing sat under my tv for light gaming with that 890M. Maybe I could set them all up in slurm and make a mini supercomputer with like 30 cores and 144GB of memory between them? XD

I'd look at a mini-pc with oculink if I were considering using it for gaming. Sure it kind of defeats the purpose of ultra sff if you have an eGPU setup with a full size 7700 XT and SFX power supply on top of a dock, but I'd take that modularity/possibility on top of the same internal iGPU setup than without. USB4 or whatever is too much of a bottleneck to really matter compared to oculink.

Looking for a mini PC for editing and was interested in the SER 9 until I saw your video. With all that being said would a better option be the Beelink GTi14 Ultra AI PC Intel® Core™ UItra 9 185H with the future option of using the docking station which has now been updated to accept 3 slot cards. Thoughts? One video said the docking station wont help much with editing. Thank you

@ElevatedSystems I like the Ser9 but I can play ST:Online with a Ser8 ? My last PC was a Socket 939 Asus A8S-X with an actual ATI Radiom GPU. In your honest opinion, can I save $500 buy buying last Gen but also future proof Doom Eternal. I'm not going to play WuKong. Should I just wait until July to buy a Ser9 and half the cost ? I'm sure you're going to say yes.

It seems SER9 is better, but it consumes a lot more power, too much for a a mini-pc in my opinion. I might go with the Geekom one. Also, the Geekom has a big advantage over the Beelink. Living in the EU, I don't have to pay import duties buying it in the official store. But I have to if I order the Beelink.

If AMD draws more power but gets the work done faster, then its possible its actually more efficient. You need to calculate how much Energy each system used to complete a certain task, not how much power it draws when CPU is fully loaded!

oh wow Beelink Ser9 AMD is now selling for over $1100 whereas GT1 Mega Intel for under $800. And the fact he didn't talk about price factor, this upload is nothing but a shill for AMD products. To me, GT1 Mega is a clear winner from pricing standpoint.
@ElevatedSystems
@ElevatedSystems Ай бұрын
I did mention pricing but it’s not a major factor in the comparison because its the one factor that changes frequently. In fact at the time of filming they were pretty evenly priced with the GT1 Mega priced at $950 and the SER9 at $999. The change in pricing most likely reflects supply and demand. The GT1 was struggling to sell so it’s price had to be cut, while the demand for the SER9 was overwhelming supply. What conclusion can you draw from that?

I went for dreamquest, dose everything i need it for inc lightroom and photoshop, it only a travel computer big demand editing i normally wait till i get home to use gaming desktop but i may not need to now as i was using 15 year old laptop. the dreamquest it has n150 3.6ghz 8gb graphics, 16gb ram and 500gb m.2 for it size performs well and dose everything i need it for, no intentions gaming it a travel computer and best thing they system and a 16 inch 2.5 k screen uses around 40w of power that was important as it will be a car pc on my next big roads trip for isles scotland could be 3 weeks and 80% living in my car as micro camper so a pc to transfer vid data and pictures on to portable hdd a pc is necessary, screen uses a crazy 10w according to cable and pc plug says 12v 30w 3a a cheap inverter to get a steady 50hz job done a pc in my car on windows 11 and i pick my office view cannot get better than that while i transfer data and maybe few edits. low power usage was top my list but it still had to use lightroom and photoshop and have 4 usb drives the dreamquest fits that very well. i will get an amd one at one point for at home as it pretty wasteful running a huge computer just to watch youtube or other online vids i can give my expensive computer a rest and use a cheaper amd mini for 90% daily stuff. dreamquest n150 3.6ghz 8gb graphics, 16gb ram and 500gb m.2 cost me just under £200 and that inc 3 year insurance for what it dose a bargain and screen 2.5k 16 inch spot on for travel £137 overall with everything i needed to run it like mouse keyboard and inverter all in was just over £350 what bargain for a car pc what can easy do editing i require while in my car

In a single core tests and wattage efficiency (this one is not so important because these devices are powered from the outlet and not from battery). Multi threading is significantly on the AMD side. At least not on the pro version. And I'm not talking about horrible SSD read/write speeds on a base M4 (again, I'm talking only about base level M4, from the same price range)

i dont get it, if you are a pro vid editor, you 100% will not be using either one of these boxes for work....never going to happen. so does it really pay to even test them as such? real world testing also means realistic testing and all the vid encoding you did is not real world for systems such as these.

That was not even close to a Professional editing project. However to answer your question one the cost of these “little boxes” hits $1000 then its fair to test workflows you’d expect from a PC at that cost.
