I can't wait to hear my 6 foot high school boys tell people their 5-4' coach taught them how to block. I showed them a few of these techniques, but I'm not as effective on a men's height net, so thanks for this video I can show them for reinforcement!

Hi! Thank you so much for your videos! I have a video suggestion concerning the block. How to block an A, how to predict the direction of the ball when the opponent is hitting a A. I also need instruction on arms motion when the A attack is either right or left. Cheers!

Thanks for the video. I have a question though, why is it that in the sample videos at the end, the blockers seem to be jumping up not forward and their thumbs are not pointing up?

Hello! I'm still fairly young, only about 5'2", and I'm not fabulous at jumping, but I'm very passionate about volleyball and not letting the ball touch the ground. What do you think I should do and what position do you recommend?

If one does not have a great jump and the hands go over the net, would you say one needs to try follow the ball and put the hands around it?

Hi coach Danny. I was wondering if u can make a short video on how far I should stand as a middle blocker from the net. And what if my setter is in the middle too. I collide with them.

1. You want to block the hitter and not the ball 2. Go 1 motion and seal the net - leave the hand over as long as possible 3. 4 things to do with your hand 1. Thumbs up 2. hands apart 3. shoulders shrugged 4. large stiff hand Thank you Coach Donny!

Coach donny can you place video of underhand service
@deasttn7 жыл бұрын
Start with your feet together. Step with your left foot and swing with your right hand. Keep your thumb pointed outward and finish with a nice, high hand. Do not toss the ball, you want to hit the ball out of your hand just like a golfer hits the ball off the tee.
@volleyballvideos64268 жыл бұрын
Do you have a video on hitting 1s/quicks? Is it worth going for a 1 if the pass is bad and the setter is several feet away? It would be great to see a vid on the ideal situation, but also on what the middle can do when things go awry. Thanks!
@GumbeauxRoux3 жыл бұрын
I have a huge problem with blocking because my timing is wrong. I can’t seem to figure out when to jump. Is it possible that you’re still making these tutorials (I’ve been watching for years!) and that you’d consider making one for timing the block?
@just1polygurl9815 жыл бұрын
Hey coach donny i was wondering, you said you need to block the hitter because they control the ball when set but do you have any tips on how to read the setter or the quick sets before its passed to the hitter? I have a hard time being able to read the ball/set first which leads me to be straggling behind by a little bit and i cant close the gap or get up to my full height
@jamesmac84244 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the thumbs up/hands sideways technique. I suppose if it's a low, tight set and you can surround the ball, sure. But, you will clearly lose hand height on the block, you will lose natural downward blocking motion, and if you watch videos of all of the best blockers/best blocks, virtually no one has the thumbs up/hands sideways positioning.

Only people I have trouble blocking is fast fast offense or people who can jump as high as me or higher because I block to shut them down "saluting" over the net almost to my shoulders so people who spike at the same height as my max can still hit over
@Yara-cm8mh3 жыл бұрын
Really late but in that situation it’s better to go for a soft block if they’re hitting higher than you.

I coach U18 boys. I would like to know what you coach the blockers to do if the middle is taken out of the play (so the pass is a 1 pass or a 2 pass and a non-setter is setting the ball.) Do you teach the middle and pin blockers to travel together to block at the pin or do you teach the pin blocker to go to the pin ahead of time and have the middle blocker close to them?
@heyaheikousen38732 жыл бұрын
I just subscribed to ElivateYourself guy and I'm interested in middle blocking because I'm tall on our country. I haven't really played yet so I'm just watching here and there. I know that what I first need is stamina since I'm not an athletic person and I don't exercise. I first need discipline first with my sleep and drink of water. I'll do my best and God will do the rest. First, I hope I'll stick with volleyball because I didn't with basketball. Btw my Height is 5'11'', or maybe 6 flat. Idk if I'm 180 or 184.. I hated my height because I haven't used it on any sports but volleyball is interesting to me because 6 feet flat is small in volleyball, now I somehow want to get taller 😆, I'm 22 years old.
