Nice! For a 47 year old elevator, the elevator shaft is very clean and the machine and controls still run smoothly

I agree with you about attempting in the elevator shaft. Elevator shafts tend to be deep and narrow, which often leads to permanent injuries. Especially failing into a shaft is among the deadliest type of elevator accidents. Hopefully you know how do shafts work and you got this Jim! ❤️ thanks for reminding of the safety when entering the elevator shaft.

I have to dissagree, and agree at the same time. I agree on the older Dover elevators as like all old machines and equipment they were built tough, and to last. However the newer Dovers that were built after 1990 are junk. Heck even Tyssen Krupp is junk alongside Schindler. The best is Otis, and still a good elevator. Otis is now owned by United Technologies corp the same co that owns Carrier air conditioning, and several other companies. I remember being in high school from 1994 yo 97, and the school was built in 1991, had 3 floors and a Dover hydralic elevator. Regardless to say, that elevator was broken more times than it was working and it was like this the whole time i was in school. I rememer having a class next to the machine room, and when they were working on it, all i would hear during class is the loud motor buzzing. The teacher was getting very aggrivated by it. I rememer after class walking by when they had the elevator in the service position, and i yelled out Dover sucks and is junk, and i said Otis is the best, and he gave me a look like i knew what i was talking about lol. He probably thought who is this young teenager that knows about elevators. I got to hsve a conversation with the tech at the time, and it was a great one. Needless to say in 1992 they added a new addition on to the school with 3 floors, and i told the principal we need to make sure the elevator is an Otis not a Dover as we are having so many issues with the one we have, and he looked at me, and smiled and said Shawn, its going to be an Otis, and i was so happy. I remember getting to ride it, and it still had all the protective covering on the walls of the cab. It was a great elevator, and was a traction i believe. Great times in high school.

Unless you own the elevator... like an elevator in your house or an elevator in a building you own.

@@hilo2-est3-elev Even if you own the elevator, it's still a bad idea to go into an elevator shaft or machine room if you don't know what you're doing. Most of the time, it's the elevator technicians and maintenance crew that go into these places.
