Genghis Khan was unique, uniting the Warring clans was an impossible task. The Mongolian composite bow was lethal to 350 yards (100 yards longer than an English longbow) and unlike a longbow it could be used on horse back. Sobutai and Genghis were two of the greatest military strategists of all time. With Genghis also being a political genius
@mcbrians.85082 ай бұрын
@@joshmilbrandt3225 nobody is talking about the so called "dog army" of Genghis Khan. I am sure that it wasn't a literal doggie army of siberian huskies. I think Genghis have in his army a legion of Cynocephali or what we call today Dog-man. Before you call me crazy, Marco Polo talked about seeing them amidst the Horde when he visited Mongolia. Some quotes by the Great Khaan translated for our international friends! 1. There's an overwhelming mountain Do not think “How to overcome it” Will and it will be conquered There's an uncrossable river Do not think “How can one pass it" If your will is to pass, you shall pass 2. This body is fragile but the noble name is eternal. 3. I will rejoice when the world unites again as one family prospering in peace. There are many wicked, cruel and coveted kings around us. They act as they like, causing suffering to many, constantly warring with each other, wasting human life like sand in the wind. So we want to make them peaceful. If we can do so, it will be virtue in the eyes of the higher heavens and auspicious to the lower beings. 4. To his sons and generals: “Find out what the people of different tribes think. Without knowing what they think and what they want, how can we lead them” 5. Fix oneself, then fix your family, fix your family and then fix your nation. Huray huray huray 🇲🇳🇲🇳🇲🇳

@@kitkens2 Languages develop all the time, what England speaks now isn't the English from the 18th century, and definitely not old or middle English. Even heard that the southern US accent is closer to the English of the 18th century than the modern british English of today. It kinda amazes me how English is still relatively uniform over so many countries tbh, in the Netherlands and Belgium if everyone spoke in their regional dialects a lot of people wouldn't even understand each other. Twents or Gronings is not understandable for people in west-vlamingen or Zeeland for example and vice versa, and this in such a relatively small area. We all know standard Dutch though so it's not that much of a problem. English itself is a fusion of many languages and British English isn't a holy grail of purity, but a fusion of many languages (Norse, Frisian, French, Latin, German, Celtic). Don't put yourself down because you speak a slightly different version of English from the Brits

All hail the King of the kings, great Chinggis Khaan. FYI: The background mountain seen in the video is called "Burkhan Khaldun", which is sacred landscape of Mongolia. The mountain is situated in the north-east of the country in the central part of the Khentii mountain chain where the vast Central Asian steppe meets the coniferous forests of the Siberian taiga. Burkhan Khaldun is associated with the worship of sacred mountains, rivers and ovoo-s (shamanic rock cairns), in which ceremonies have been shaped by a fusion of ancient shamanic practices. The site is also believed to be the place of Chinggis Khaan’s birth and burial. It testifies to his efforts to establish mountain worship as an important part of the unification of the Mongol people.

I really hope HBO or Netflix or some big budget company picks up the idea of making a series about Chinggis Khan. Because his life story is something straight out of a epic novel. Growing up with odds stacked against him. Sold as a slave. Manage to gain his freedom through his own hands and merits. Story of comradeship with his blood brother. Betrayal. Saving his wife from kidnapping from another tribe. Running away with his family just trying to live a normal life. Ends up finding out that running away from your problems the problems will eventually catch up to you. So best way to deal with them is to take matters into your own hands and conquer them and anyone who potentially might cause you problems in the future. Ends up uniting most if not all mongol tribes. Proceeds to conquer the rest of the world. Temujin was a fucking a madlad.

as we do share ancestral genetics, that means very little for culture, what does matter is geography, which is why many would get confused and compare, the only native americans that compare are those of the great plains and badlands, such as the majority of the Siouan peoples (of which I am oglala and hunkpapa, Lakota), and the many smaller tribes, but that doesn't mean those who don't come these regions don't shore some cultural similarities, such as shaminism and a propensity to getting invaded and genocided to an insignificant amount by white settlers, oh and the use of horses for combat was also used by the peoples of the deserts and swamps as well with varying degrees of success.

Genghis Khan and the Mongols were the dominant force that shaped Eurasia and consequently the modern world. Not for what they destroyed - though they wrought much destruction all over the continent - but for what they built. They came close to uniting Eurasia into a world empire, and in so doing they spread throughout it technologies like paper, gunpowder, paper money, or the compass - and trousers. They revolutionized warfare. More lastingly, they also created the nucleus of a universal culture and world system. With the emphasis on free commerce, open communication, shared knowledge, secular politics, religious coexistence, international law, and diplomatic immunity.' Genghis Khan had a plan to remake the world, for the benefit of not just Mongols, but all the people he conquered. Leaving descendants in place to rule his empire after it fragmented, nearly all people remember their time of Mongol rule as the time of their greatest progress, peace, and prosperity. The last Mongol empire ended with the resignation of the Great Moghul (India) in 1857. Genghis Khan and the Mongols did not target any particular religion,ethnicity or race, they killed anyone that displeased them. Genghis Khan was no saint, but he lived in an unsaintly world. No empire is ever built without murdering people in human history. The Greeks, Romans, Mongols, British all murdered raped and looted their way to glory. Chinggis Khan killed millions of people, he also saved lives of millions of people specially. Chinggis Khan is still respected as ancestor by not only Mongols but also by people coming from those nomadic tribes, even though he killed lots of pastoral nomads too while he was setting an order in vast steppes. Even they respect his memory today. May his soul in eternal blue sky be joyful, his name will never be forgotten. His memory will be cherished.

The one man who changed the world. United asia through brute force, but was governed fairly and was acceptive of all cultures and religions. Opened the silk routes to Europe. Ideas, ethnicities, technology, science, and religion traveled through without any hindrance. Sure he was a brutal warfighter, but his existence ushered in the world we live in today. The end of feudalism, and the idea of merit over birth. Much love from the USA.
