I just got this mic today and kinda went in blind. Your video opened my eyes fully and showed me everything there is to know! My Mic is now up and running perfectly and sounds amazing. I know it's not a top end recording mic or anything but for streaming, this thing is not just best bang for your buck, it's far above and beyond worth every buck and then some! Well done Elgato and well done on this perfect video! Thank you!

I'm not a streamer, I'm a listener. With that in mind I like the sound generally, especially when you put it on the arm or if on the desk stand when you dropped the lowpass filter. Also I like that the balance is easy to use as my main complaint with streams is the streamers voice just completely over rides the game and the typical response when I mention it is either "I don't know how to balance it better" or "I don't have a mix for my headphones and it sounds good to me". This mic and software should make that much easier to do.
@mindfulleven6353

I hope they'll publish the software as standalone, cause that's a really nice feature. Funny how this product is not really about the quality of the mic, but all about the gadgets and features that comes with it... I'm sure beginning streamers will love this mic.

Good demo and discussion. I am glad you mentioned that it is not for voice-over, and I'll add another reason to what you noted about the EQ. I find the wave form for this mic is way lopsided and top-heavy, much more above the center line than below, especially as levels increase. (I thought mine was defective, and exchanged it, but the replacement was the same.) It's more than a visual oddity, because the asymetry messes with post-processing, like normalizing. There's a reason they heavily emphasize that it's for streaming (not recording).

Thanks for another great review! You are always my 1st go-to before purchasing new gear. Anything having to do with sound is at least "somewhat" subjective. That said, I found the Wave 3 to be an excellent value, even after spending a bit more for the proprietary pop screen and shock mount. Goes without say that proximity is a factor with any mic. This mic works fine at 14 - 20" for zoom meetings and the like. But for content creation, streaming, voice-over, etc., it really seems to come to life at 7-9". Makes a remarkable difference!

Thank you for putting the mic on an arm, before that I didn't like the sound at all. It sounded hollow (to me) and I thought it needed to be closer to you mouth. Your review was bang on about not too good for people with lower frequency voices, but the arm sort of helped a bit (still sounding a bit gravelly). New firmware needed (I agree), a lite DAW type plugin before Wave Link Stream sends audio to OBS (in my opinion) would help a lot. Great video and information, stay safe and keep well...

Probably a good option for most people who are getting a Scarlett right now, not sure if the price for it will scare most away, considering the greater versatility of a Behringer umc22 with an at2020 being around that price. The software looks really good, much more straight forward than voicemeeter for example. It's definitely a "set it and forget it" "plug and play" microphone for whom doesn't want to fiddle around with a bunch of stuff, and if you only stream and don't want to get into anything else audio related, it's pretty good value imho. The preamp sounds a little noisy though

The price point seems really high for the sound quality. While nifty, the software doesn't make up for sound issues. Less money can get you into an AT2020+USB which has darn good sound for a piece of starter equipment.

Having used a blue yeti snowball and then a black out edition blue yeti I believe I have made a wise purchase. As a gamer and not someone well versed in audio it’s going to be good. I wonder can you use wireless headphones with it? Also I like the idea of being able use it through the stream deck.

The ads that arbitrarily interrupt your show are really annoying. That said, the mic is a cool idea that sort of misses the mark. The idea of putting noisy switches on the microphone body is a terrible one. The mic sounded very "boxey" but sounded way better when you set it up closer to your mouth. I love the capacitive mute button. I wish I had one. Why didn't they do something similar on the other switches?

I don't know if you still look at comments for these old videos! But I have a Wave: 3 as is, been dabbling in voice over and am looking at getting an XLR microphone to dive deeper into voice over and voice acting. As such, I have been looking at possibly the Rode NT1 or the NT1A. But I was curious, if you had any particular mic that you'd recommend to someone with a deeper voice like your own. I know you'd mentioned in one video that you weren't a fan of the NT1A for your voice. But If that's the case, is there any mic you might recommend for a deeper voice like ours? I'd like to use the mic for both voice work, as well as podcasting and live streaming as well.

Hey Mike, I love the videos. I was looking to see if you’ve done a video on equipment that is the best bang for the buck. If I want to try doing some voiceover on the side, I’d like to get stuff that is sufficient, and I don’t mind paying more money if I get value out of it. I do the same with most stuff I buy. Like if I can get an 8TB hard drive for $90, or a 12TB drive for $229, Assuming the 8TB meets my needs, I’d rather get it, because the added benefit of the 12TB doesn’t really justify the price difference. With that in mind, I was wondering if you could do a video or series of videos for people in my position. I was thinking of the stellar X2 that you reviewed, because it seems like it would be sufficient for me to see if I like doing voiceover. After seeing your video on the Scarlett interfaces, my impression was that it wouldn’t be sufficient for a paid gig. I know the products out there and prices change so often, I was wondering what your latest thoughts were.
