I always wanted to get a microphone but was scared of spending money that is not worth it. My friends were telling me to buy quadcast, but my comparisons were not matching theirs. To me, wave 3 was much better than quadcast, and I honestly think it is. Thanks to you I just bought wave 3 and don't regret it. I also got it on promotion so I payed 100 bucks for it.

I rock the Elgato Wave 3 for game streaming, video tutorials and even for MS Teams at work. What I love is the Wave Link software. I have clipping setup, deegate so keyboard and mouse clicks are not picked up, ability to have multiple items on their own slider for individual volumes... sooo nice... love it!

i used Shure MV7 for a while and decided to go all-in on Elgato and i am looking forward to the condenser type. In my opinion, after a while of streaming, it is seemingly the best of both worlds, because with Software you can remove background noise with AI if you please and suddenly the Condenser performs more like a Dynamic. I think for streaming and hosting a audience oriented show, the condenser has a more "alive" feeling to it. I think it is important to have people feel like they are with you in your living room and some room ambience and natural reflections can provide that and make the stream appear more inviting. I always wondered how some streamers make that atmosphere and i experimented with adding Room reverb etc, but it is not the same. You cant get away from the "radio-style" when using dynamic microphones.

im thinking of getting the wave 3 because my steel series headset broke, what headphones do you use for your wave 3?
@prodigy_xd2 ай бұрын
@@thomassalsburg5861headphone is a personal choice. There are Open-Back and closed-back headphones. With open ones you can hear your surroundings, and have a wider soundstage. But if you have noisy neighbors then closed ones are better, because they isolate the sound in the can. If you live in a quiet environment id pick open back headphones. Popular openback Picks are: DT990 Pro, AKG K702 or Phillips SHP9500 Popular closed back are: DT700 pro X or DT770 pro, Sennheiser HD 560 and others from that company also perform well

Great breakdown! Got a sub from me. I've been running my Blue Yeti for nearly 10 years now, and it's genuinely been a total trooper in terms of quality of output and overall build quality. That said, I've been eyeing going XLR to the Elgato Wave DX + Wave XLR Mixer. I've noticed the vocal differences now while joining in my group podcasts and on my own channel videos - and I think it's time to upgrade.
@RPGVeir Жыл бұрын
This choice is hell for me, Wave DX is super tempting for being dynamic and future upgrades (thanks to wave xlr), but at same time Im afraid of how the audio can be affected by my distance and positioning. Gonna use mine mostly for streaming and podcasts ^^

I’m so indecisive! I have a fan in the background running in my room. I also have a really thocky keyboard I really don’t want none of those things to be heard or at least minimize the noise. I’ll be using this to play games with friend. What would you recommend? I don’t really have a budget. DX OR WAVE 3?

You should have also mentioned that if you get the Wave XLR you could then use any xlr connected microphone with it. Meaning you aren't limited to only the wave dx. You could even use thousand dollar microphones like Neumann.

Great video! Was debating the wave 1 vs the wave XLR (I have a at2020, & sennheiser e855).
@Zidakuh Жыл бұрын
Honestly, both mics you have listed are very good mics in their own area. I'd use an AT2020 instead of my current mic (Røde NT-1000, it literally picks up my neighbors dog breathing outside through closed doors and windows), if I had acces to one. Same for the Sennheiser e855, this can be easily made into a very broadcasty sounding mic with a bit of EQ.

@@StreamGearTalk Hi there Frank, sorry for this but I have another question. So I have the DX mic and the Stream Deck+ is on its way, I was thinking would it be the same if i use a xlr to 3.5mm jack cable or xlr to usbc cable for the DX into my laptop then use the SD+ wavelink software from there as the DX is dynamic and don't need power? Or is it mandatory the wave xlr for the DX? I am trying not to spend much as I am just starting in this video recording world. Thank you in advance mate, I appreciate the help.
@KyngShadow7 ай бұрын
so would the software for the wave 3 be enough to cut out background noise? cuz my homie's is loud af when my other homie is streaming lmao so i'm trying to get her a new mic for her bday to block his voice out....if wave3 with the software will solve that then it's cheaper to get that than having to buy DX with xlr cable and interface
@StreamGearTalk7 ай бұрын
Yes. The noise removal plug in should help with that along with a noise gate, now, kepe in mind that when you speak to the mic open the gate will "open" allowing sound in, so there is a chance it'll still pick up anyone else depending on how loud they are being. Either way it should minimize the amount of shenanigans picked up

I am looking for a usb-c mic as my first mic. I’m no streamer, but i game and wfh zoom a lot in an untreated room… I have came down to a few
@StreamGearTalk Жыл бұрын
Since your room is untreated I would avoid a condenser mic such as the wave mic. Out of all the options you listed and keeping it under $100 I would recommend the maono pd100u. When I reviewed it I was genuinely surprised at how good it sounded for its price point.

I’m going to buy the wave dx for my first microphone and was going to get the wave xlr for the interface. However, is it possible that if I get the stream deck +, I no longer need the xlr? Can I do the same stuff to the mic with the sd + as I would have been with the wave xlr?
@StreamGearTalk Жыл бұрын
No, the sd+ is an audio mixer with similar controls like the standard sd, it doesn’t have an xlr input so with just the sd+ the wave dx would literally be unable to function. The wave xlr is the audio interface that has an xlr input that allows the wave dx (and other xlr mics) to connect to your pc.

In my use case: neither! I just wanted a mic for Discord that wasn't in my face and still able to use speakers. Solution? A pencil shotgun mic on an arms length with nvidia studio to block any background noise out. I suppose you could setup a condenser mic on the same distance, but they are meant to be close to your mouth.
