Very interesting and insightful talk from the author Elif Shafak at the right moment when i just started reading her latest book. Very bright intellectual. I appreciate her imaginative and empathetic approach to storytelling, as well as her focus on human connection and the power of ideas.. it triggers intellectual curiosity and the interest of exploring different perspectives!

why is elif şafak silent about gaza? why does she act like there is no genocide? she hasn't said a single word for the Palestinians until now. elif şafak is a supporter of israel shameful

She isn’t talking about genocide in Gaza as much as she probably should. But she posted a picture form Gaza on her instagram in 8 of April, writing about how it”s “a scream of immense pain and suffering”, she’s been talking about it and other violent acts for years now. But it would’ve been nice if she mentioned genocide in Gaza while talking about Yazidi one

There are hundreds of communities across the world that might be facing genocide or similar struggles. It’s impossible for any writer to list them all. As humans, we tend to be selective, and our ears filter out anything that doesn’t directly resonate with us. Instead of criticizing, perhaps we can focus on the broader message and reflect on how we can selflessly bring more awareness to those causes closest to us.

It just shows pure hypocrisy if you talk about old genocides, yet silence about current ones!
