The A124 was not great at first crack, but opened up pretty nicely over a few months. The B batch is where it’s at this year. I bought a couple cases of that one. Extra dark and spicy!

Thanks for saving me money. Also what I’m finding is that these batches are better in value than the ECBP 8 to 9 year store picks that are around $93.

I agree the batches are better value but some of the single barrels are amazing but gotta try first

If it makes you feel better, the ECBP sample they gave us for the You Do Bourbon tasting in May 2024 was subpar. Hot and a little disjointed. The Larceny was far superior, so that's the one I got. Great review and comparisons. Cheers.

BB, once again I agree with your assessment. I like Larceny BP well enough, but I'd rather spend the extra $10 for ECBP (even though ECBP quality has been on a downward trend the past 4 years). I think wheaters actually need more time in the barrel than rye-d mashbills to really shine, which is ironic since HH (at least with Larceny) and Makers seem to intentionally limit the oak in their wheaters.

Completely agree. Makers mark refuses to make their bourbon world class they have good stuff but until they give a completely rickhouse aged double digit age statement instead of this cellar offering they hold themselves back.

I’m with you… B is the best. C is still a great value, but I wish I backed up the B rather than bought the C.

I was able to pick up ECBP C924 right in the western suburbs of Philly in Pennsylvania. I was surprised since I wasn't able to find C923 at all last year. Good stuff!

Yeah reviews were mixed on it and while I enjoyed it it’s not to the level of age or proof of the C923 so those got scooped up quick and I think less C923 was released as the batch was smaller

JDSBBP has replaced this for me as my go-to "value barrel proof" bourbon. Jim Beam could really make an impact in this space if they would just re-release KC12 CS in the $80 range...

Yeah I always loved both the JDBP and ECBP offerings. KC12CS was one of my all time favorites. It was $100 back in 2020 so I think if they do it again it would be in that range. However it likely has older stuff in that bottle

I really liked C924. Caramel bomb with big confectionary sugar and sweet peanut butter, but not nearly as nutty as some lead me to believe. Balanced char and seasoned oak. Not overly complex and lacks any fruit notes, but I still think it's a delicious dram. Picked it up for 65 and can't beat that.

Great price for it! Yeah you can’t beat that for the money. I think it’s good but unfortunately ECBP had no standout winner this year really

Great review and comparisons BB. All EC BP’s are good; some better than others. I have liked the last several Larceny BP’s. 🥃

Though I love C924, I honestly prefer C922 to the C924 in that the overall drinking experience, proof notwithstanding, is more balanced and pleasant from start to finish including the nose-to-palate conversion. I missed the C923, but know that is an outlier compared to the proof and age of ECBP in general. C924 is my favorite for this year, with A124 being in 3rd place due to its earthiness and "pencil No.2 woodiness". Full disclosure: I would pay a hefty premium to get a C923 for sure! 😉

I hunted C923 probably more than anything I've hunted but I came up empty-handed. The experience turned me off to hunting to the point that I hardly hunt anymore. And then, some guy they call Easy Andy offered to meet me behind the high school after hours with a C923 but the ask was more than what I was willing to do.

I haven’t seen the C924 yet. Since they cost $85 to $100 in my area, I might pass on this one. Great review and comparisons.

How was the finish on the a124? Did you get bitter oak? I get something thats really off putting like a green bell pepper note. It kills it for me. I like the front and mid palate but that finish…. 🤮

Oh I’m referring to your reviews always being an A+ kpmarine09 rating regardless of the bourbon being hot trash or not! Very cool compare to the other 2024 releases. I’ll tell you what, that A124 is a UNIQUE pour. I hear you on the dry, oaky bit - I get such a well aged, oaky taste from it that’s hard to find. I’d trade my B524 for one any day of the week because it’s such a memorable pour. Great video! Watched. Confirmed. That’s for all your effort into these!
