Got a 10yr 128.2 proof ECTBP pick from Cox’s Evergreen in Louisville and it is phenomenal. Tastes like a high proof toasted Michter’s mixed with Heaven Hill. So damn good.

That’s a good analogy on it they are great I imagine the older ones like you got are even better than the 8yr I have

I got a SB BP 10-year at 122.7 proof and love it. I paid $99 here in San Antonio. I compared it to the ECBP B524 and cannot say it is that much better. I have an opportunity to also get the 10-year Toasted SB BP for the same price and am wondering if it will be significantly different or better than the non-toasted release.

Just got a 9 yr @ 121 and 10 year @ 114 in Indiana @ costco for $84.99. Cracked the 9 year and wow! Everything you’d expect from the flavor bomb that is EC roasted with that extra proof as the cherry on top. Outstanding pour.
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Yeah Im really digging these toasted EC Barrel Proofs they are great! Even though I hate the 94 proof
@Mike-Huncho.Ай бұрын
@@bourbonbill I don’t HATE the EC toasted but always wished it had more proof, it’s one I use introducing people to bourbon. Plus no longer allocated so easy to keep on the shelf. In indianapolis there a company called circle city that gets their distillate from heaven hill, EC mash and does some different finishes so I’ve had something similar to this but this one checks all the boxes for me! Cheers

Great review as always! Thank you! I have avoided the regular E.C. Toasted Barrel due in part to the price (now down to about $50 from $70) and in part to the mixed reviews from multiple Whiskey-Tube channels. The Peerless is the King of Double Oak bourbon for me! However, it depends on the occasion and my mood. The Peerless has a bit of a zestiness and a zing to it that says, "The night is young! The party is not over!". Whereas the Woodford Double Oaked (especially a great store pick) is what I want when it's just me and I want a nite cap that will be the last sip of the night!
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Haha thanks for watching and yes I enjoy the peerless and Woodford over regular ECTB but I would rank this new ECTB Barrel Proof as better than Woodford simply because they fail to make one at barrel proof

There's 10yrs hanging out all around MA for about 95$. Tasted it. It's good. Really I'm not sold on the 100$ price point. I mean does every new bottle of bourbon have to be 100$? At 70 I would've snagged it on heartbeat.
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Ahh the 10 yr yeah I get the price point isn't my favorite either but alot of their single barrels just regular ECBP is high in the 90s so I can see 10 more for the toasted. But yes compared to regular batched ECBP its not a bargain
@Best_Served_Neat_On_IceАй бұрын
Have you tried the *batched* Peerless Double Oak? Wondering how it compares to the single barrel.
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Yes I have I really enjoy the batched or shelfer bottle but the Sib are usually better as the picks generally have more age on them
@vulpixelАй бұрын
10 years here in Oregon. I vastly prefer it to woodford double oak (differing proof helps, sure, but it avoids the oversweetness to almost the point of funk that woodford has).

Yes it’s very different than Woodford double oak and I agree it’s better for sure. Glad you found a 10yr!

Going to pick up a 10 year of this at a nearby store today.. Will post back my thoughts on it when I've cracked it.. What should I compare it to? Thinking Woodford Double Oaked and/or Pursuit United Double Oaked..
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Nice snag if you can get a 10yr and Woodford double oak is too light in proof but an interesting comparison nonetheless. Pursuit united double oak was absolutely horrible to me didn’t drink like a double oak at all it’s so light in color this will stomp that bottle.
@slvrbachАй бұрын
@bourbonbill don't know if this makes a difference, but the Pursuit I have is one of the Brewzle barrel picks.. Proof-wise it's at least more on par with the ECTBP than the Woodford..

Oh I forgot they did picks I was referring to the standard release so yeah no idea what the pick is like

Dude don’t drink straight from the bottle. Pet peeve of mine guest don’t want anyone’s back wash. Just saying. Great review and hopefully this will come around my area. We just got the two 94 proof versions so maybe. And for the first time I picked up the C924 usually we only see Larceny BP which I have the last 6 versions of it but they are still putting out the B batch.

I researched this because I had never heard of it, feel free to do the same. I found only one thread saying that there is no such thing as Elijah Craig toasted Barrel barrel proof and these are just regular barrel proof editions in the wrong bottles
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Nope that’s incorrect. Years ago that occurred they put regular barrel proof in toasted bottles because they were short on glass at the time but this was a new label that hit the TTB these are in fact toasted barrel proof. The glass doesn’t say toasted its single barrel picks of barrel proof toasted. The label says toasted barrel proof and by law the label has to read what’s in it
@BigBadJerryRogersАй бұрын
@bourbonbill very interesting, I don't know why there's nothing else out there about this existing, I mean literally nothing. I don't consider myself an Elijah Craig fanboy either so since plenty of others are it's unusual. I would buy this though if I could find it.
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Yeah it’s legit I know a restaurant owner who got offered a pick of it but he went with something else instead. I’m really early on the review these first appeared only 2 weeks ago across the country the first picks were delivered I expect a bunch more reviews will come out soon. People probably missed the TTB labeling back months ago

I have not it’s a weird mashbill of mostly malted barley, with some malted rye and malted wheat it’s an American whiskey but barley heavy with a huge proof of 160. I’m not the biggest barley guy and it’s not a bourbon as it’s not at least 51% corn so I’d be hesitant on it I think it will taste unique but don’t know if I would enjoy it since I don’t enjoy scotch or Irish whiskey but this is still different than those

$100 seems high for this. If this were to become a regular release with similar distribution to ECBP, I think it would sit on shelves at that price point

I think if they would make it a batched product it would be cheaper just like ECBP batches are always cheaper than the sib of regular ECBP.
@richiebourgeois1415Ай бұрын
@@bourbonbill Good point! We don't get sib ECBP in my city so I forgot about the $ difference. Like you said in another reply, think it's more likely they release a batched ECBP Rye at some point in the next few years.

BB, have you ever had or seen an ECBP Rye? In the comments on a previous vid, I was calling for HH to make one of those & you mentioned that they do, in SiB only. Though I have never seen one yet.
@bourbonbillАй бұрын
Maybe misunderstood no they don’t to my knowledge. They do a BP Bourbon regular and this toasted and also new for 2024 a 94 proof toasted rye. I hope they extend their barrel proof line to include a barrel proof rye and toasted barrel proof rye seems logical and I’m sure they have barrels aging of it
@bloodCount8895Ай бұрын

The EC taterheads will be all over this. I could never get crazy into EC. It's good, but they got people chasing those multiple releases a year and folks will line them up. Sippin Sag DO as we speak and I'll stick with that trusty and consistent bottle.
