She always seems to be in contention each year. Funny to think that with all these players like Plisk, Svit, Saba trying to get a first slam, the only player left in the draw who won a slam is Barbora.

Nah, the key in the first set was Svitolina mostly kept hitting the ball back to Fernandez and she kept at it until Fernandez won the set. 🤦♀️🤷🏻♀️

Note to Naomi Osaka: Pay attention... This is how you conduct a press conference - with poise, confidence, and candor. Elina Svitolina is the consummate professional. She sticks to tennis.
@russelltyson74633 жыл бұрын
Why bring Osaka into this. Osaka has transended tennis, she has always been humbie and gracious to opponents if you cannot say something kind you should say nothing.
@jimw.41613 жыл бұрын
@@russelltyson7463 Russell, Knowing you must be a fair man, I'm confident you'll hold Osaka to the same standard. Example: If you can't say something nice about the country that has allowed you to be so incredibly success.... why the BLM masks at the U.S. Open - but not at the Tokyo Olympics.... where there is genuine racism against hafu (mixed race) people. That's the reason your mother chose to relocate to the U.S. I bring Naomi into the conversation because the woke media and pundits at ESPN and The Tennis Channel keep telling me how great she is - yet can't do a simple press conference with sycophants lobbing soft-ball questions without bursting into tears. Question: why does the press fawn over Naomi - and largely ignore more talented players like Barty and Svitolina? I'm afraid she's having problems shouldering the load and the expectations. I sincerely hope she doesn't become another tennis casualty/burnout in her early 20s. Her handlers should be ashamed for putting Naomi into this situation. The young woman clearly needs help - a lot of help. All they see are 💲💲💲 signs and exploitation of their political (i.e. leftist) agenda. Disgraceful! 👎

@@jimw.4161 it very simple why Osaka gets more attention than Svitolina. More marketable, and multi grand slam winner. How many slams has Svitolina won? None. That’s is what matters to media. I don’t like it but it’s obvious that winners gets media attention. Not sure why ur sooo surprised. If Svitolina wants more attention she should win more. That’s how the media especially im the US works. Also Osaka was last years champion. Of course they want her quotes after the matches.

I have been watching a fair amount of press conferences. They somehow are another event that the players have to participate after they left the court. This is what Naomi Osaka dislikes. Today, Elina was looking tired after a few minutes of it. I now understand why so many players do not want to do it anymore. The tennis event managers have to rethink how and when press conferences should be staged.
