Another great "walking in the footsteps of giants" video. Thinking about rebuilding a transmission in a Triumph was incredibly terrifying for me. Now, it's merely terrifying. Can't wait for the next episode.

To be honest I thought it was more complicated too. I hope I am not underestimating it now, but it looks like an easy job :)

Maybe for you Elin... The last guy who worked on it proved that it's also an easy job to completely f@*# up. Still waiting for that thumbs-down. ;-)

I had to mess with Wilma ' s overdrive when I first assembled the car. Next time I replaced the clutch I build a new wireing harness. I don't ever want to do what you are a doing! Bless you Elin.

It is good Wilma has an overdrive. My 66 doesn't and I need one badly.

Well it is not a little what you did. I spent hours on bleeding the clutch, just because I was doing it on my own. So you did a good job too!

Great video. I'm watching with interest. I've never been into any of my over drives as you know. Looks like you found a couple of different issues. Can't wait for the next part!

Excellent coverage, it will really help me with my 75 TR6 fitted with the same OD unit.

hi Elin I had a customer buy a TR6 on ebay from Texas(we're in NJ) and the transporters backed it off in overdrive because the wiring (or lack of it) let it be in overdrive! I refered him to a specialist in Conn. Good luck always Steve

I am thinking of the same here. The wiring was done in such a way that the circuit was closed at all times (by my ex colleague) The car was barely driven since, but it is possible that it was reversed with the OD in the on position. Anyways, I was expecting a bigger damage and I am happy it wasn't so serious. Let's see how I am going to do with the assembling.

Wow. Takes a lot of courage to take one of these apart and it's not even yours. :) I'm in the middle of my TR3 restoration and my overdrive was not working before I started. I found a bad switch so I'm hoping that was the problem. If I do, I'll be ready now thanks to you. As always, nice work!

A lot of courage or a lot of underestimation of how serious the job is :) I hope it is the first one. Good luck with your TR3

Elin, thanks for your fantastic videos! Do you (or does anyone else) know which switch is which on the A Type? I have one from a TR6 and don't have the wiring for the lockout switches or relay. Thanks!

Haha, I know, that happened to me many years ago with the transmission of my first car when I took the cover off. Springs, balls, half gears, broken shafts.... everything poured out.... never put that one back together :)
