Thank you so much for this video Eric! I’m a 72 year old woman & bought one of these pedals in excellent condition 2 weeks ago to use with my acoustic electric ukuleles. You explain things very clearly & take your time which is very important in my opinion. I’ve looked at other videos & ended up more confused than when I started & it was such a relief to find your video which I will watch many times. Thank you once again! 🥰🎶

thank you so much for the tutorial ,its a breath of fresh air when you find someone actually talking and showing you how to use this product instead of some dude just jamming out and not showing anything other than how bad he sucks at playing guitar ,that being said a thumbs up for leaving your mess ups in your playing and not an edit every three sec, im sure its not easy to play and explain what your doing at the same time , thumbs +subbed

The thing I like most about this pedal is... Ya don't have to put up with the base players attitude and the drummer won't quit cause he got his girl friend pregnant. It's genius but it has turned me into a basement hermit. LoL

I appreciate your low-key and detailed run-through of this pedal's switches and functions. Will watch this demo again a few times while waiting for mine to arrive. Want to be ready to goof around with it when it gets here. Then I'll underline and highlight the instructions in order to master the thing as you have demonstrated. Will be fun to have a drummer and bass player in the living room all winter whenever I feel like having them help me fill out a riff idea. (You're one Sub closer to a YT plaque now.)

Outstanding video. Loved the info and your presentation style. My wife is French Canadian and my mother-in-law is from France. She is a retired university professor that taught language in France. I'm from Texas and she absolutely hates my southern English. She is always putting us down for our pronunciations. I was playing your video while she was visiting today. And it totally wigged her out that you were pronouncing "genre" with a "g" or "j". She kept screaming at the screen: IT'S PRONOUNCED "ZHON-RAH". NOT "JOHN-RAH". And both my wife and I were rolling on the floor laughing every time she did it. She finally stormed out of the room and refused to come back until I stopped the video. I told my wife that now that I know her button, it will probably get pushed every time she visits. Thanks for the additional entertainment here at home. And again, thanks for all the videos. Keep 'em coming.

Great review. I've owned Trio v1 and v2, this would be my desert island pedal if I could only bring one. Something that is missed about this pedal is it actually has more than 12 memory locations. In fact is has 60 in all, even though that wouldn't be practical. Each of the five slots for 'parts' can be used autonomously, so each slot (memory location) can have five completely different tempos, drum/bass and loops. If a person wanted to use this in a club they might only need two slots for a song leaving three for another tune. The only real limitation is the SD card size regarding what each slot can record.
@EricMooreGuitar
@EricMooreGuitar 4 жыл бұрын
This is how I typically use the pedal. I just record little practice parts I want to loop over in the different slots. I do this more so than recording full song arrangements in the different parts.

I have been using the Boss Micro BR-80 for a number of years for private practice. In my view it offers a lot more usable functionality than the Digitech Trio+. It can even be used as an audio interface. Unfortunately the user interface sucks the big one and it will not run off USB power. I would love to redesign that thing for 2023, but unfortunately Roland (Boss) do not have a good reputation for listening to it's customers.

Great review Eric Moore ...you really point out interesting stuff ...I bought this pedal about 2 years ago but as it has a steep learning curve to get the best out of it after a impatient dabble i put it away and went back to my Line 6 JM4 looper...which ive used for the last 15 year and despite it probably been out of date still is a great tool...then I decided to give the trio+ another go ...I think what disappointed me was the somewhat rather rubbish guitar sounds it has ...Ok for practice on the hoof but nor very inspiring....so i plugged in my Roland GR55 guitar synth and ...the rest is history...The secret is to keep it very simple when "teaching" it the song....but once you realise that it simply cannot and will not replace a real band ...you're not going to be able to do The Who Live at Leeds impersonations with it ...lol.. That said its a very inspiring piece of kit ...I find I start out with an idea and that leads me to other avenues that i originally had not intended after messing with the controls ...sometimes i use the bass lines it comes up with , but if i like everything on a tune but the bass is slightly out of time (I find it sometimes comes in too late or early) i either plug in a real bass or use the guitar synth to emulate a bass if i'm too lazy to get the bass our ...i sometimes add some extra percussion with the synth.... Ok so onto its faults...well more limitations than faults 1)well the built in guitar effects are rubbish ...but tbf like me most people in the end will prefer to use a more versatile multi effects unit..after all it simply CANNOT be all things to all people 2) Its MONO not STEREO but lets be fair its not a multitrack recorder as such ... 3) When trying to build a actual song with different parts intro/verse /chorus / middle eight /fade out ect....trying get the tempos to match up seamlessly even using the metronome is hair pullingly frustrating.. Ive only managed to do one song with different parts where i've been happy with the results ...and that took bloody ages to get right.... most of my tries at this usually sound very cut and paste..so I generally use it to lay down various grooves to wail to and experiment with .....lets be fair most band members would not allow such self indulgence without downing tools after 5 mins lol 4) Its very hard to remember what songs/riffs you have put into it....a small LED screen would be handy so you could name and scroll through the songs.....that said I use a little paper notepad to write down its contents of the ones i want to keep....so its no big deal 5) An on off switch so you dont have to turn it off at the mains Oh and do be careful when deleting parts....you can very easily wipe a part that you wanted to keep or even a complete song GGGRRRR--ARRRGGGG ...hours spent finely honing a riff...gone in 2 seconds lol.. It might sound like im be picky ...I'm not ...it's a fantastic tool limited by my imagination ...if i had had this 35 years ago when I was young free and single with time on my hands ..keen as mustard with loads of time on my hands ..i'e not married with a tedious full time job that eats away at my allotted God given lifespan and time that could be spent on actually living ..(really there should be some kind of social security welfare benefit for artistic people so we dont have to waste time having work for a living just to buy a house and own a few nice things ..how about it Boris ...Useless , lawbreaking ,lying Tory cunt Johnson ??...I think they're his middle names lol)... I keep mine out on a desk with every thing plugged in (apart from the adaptor ) ready for action ...Oh and if your not using headphones ...which is how I mostly use it...then a real Valve amp will sound rubbish you need a PA speaker (which I don't own anymore)...I sometimes use my Blackstar bluetooth I.D core practice amp ...although I've had passable results with My Roland Jazz chorus tranny amp with gives it a nice stereo effect...

Eric, thanks for putting all the work into this. Very much appreciated. I like to play my own bass lines. Can I mute the bass, add my own bass line, rhythm guitar, then solo along to it? There are not many pedals that have good drum sounds, a looper and gutar effects all in one. I tried the Mooer one but the drums are horrible. Thank you again
@eileenwinkel5226
@eileenwinkel5226 10 ай бұрын
Looper is actually the wrong expression, actually the trio is a small jam station because of the creation of the 5 song parts. Provided you can also set it so that the parts automatically change one into the other without changing the parts manually so that it becomes a real song I currently still have the Js-8 eband, which is better between the Js-8 eband or the Trio plus? Because with the JS-8 eband the disadvantage is that you have to play bass and drums yourself or simulate them. With the trio plus, all chords are converted into a bass and drums accompaniment

There is at least one power supply on the market which has an output of 9V / 600mA. You can use a cable which combines two outputs and thus achieves 1,2 A and so you can put the trio on your pedalboard.

So for live performance, If I understood, If i want to use only the drums, could i then save up to 20 rhythm patterns ? provided that i will have a bass guitarist. @@EricMooreGuitar To any newcomers to guitar who have the Trio.... I highly recommend you start off with a 12 bar blues shuffle (any key) once it "learns" it and plays the bass and drums back to you, lay the exact same 12 bar shuffle over it (if you have the version with the looper). Then, kick the overdrive/distortion effect on and solo away in that key. Your ear will learn what chord you are on in that given key and start to anticipate when the chord change is coming up. Focus on highlighting the root note of the chord you're in. Remember the rhythm section is doing the heavy lifting, and let your solo breath. Sometimes less is more. bassists and drummers rock. The trio teaches you how crucial they are.

Ok... This is ESSENTIAL ! ( I'm used to playing with an ACTUAL BAND.) But stuck in a small room, W/ a 50w MK plexi & a 64 Super Reverb a bunch of guitars , pedal board & 0 space. I'm buying this IMMEDIATELY ! It's below freezing so I have a Humidifier & heater so my acoustics will survive. Seriously I'm going nuts..... HELP !!!

Great review, but did I get that correct (at about 17:30 to 17:56), that the looper only stores one progression at a time (and at each song part) and then automatically stops recordung? With 5 of such short song parts, each complete song would be limited to less than 2 minutes of total recording and playing. Except you reduce the tempo to "fall assleep" mode of course :-) What did I get wrong?

No, it keeps playing, with your recorded loop. When I'm working out a solo over a progression I'll sometimes be plying a section for too long as my wife would say. It only stops the recording when you come to the end of the chord progression. You can overdub as much as you want. Hope this helps.

@@jimmo1211 Thanks for helping. Maybe it's my bad English, but I still don't seem to get it, sorry... So still it stops recording after one chord progression, doesn't it? Let's say if you want to record two different "kind of verses" before moving on to...let's say "pre-chorus", using the same bass and drum playalong for both parts of the verse, you'd have to stop playing, chose another song at the upper button sections 1...5 and start playing the second part? I understand that it keeps *playing* with my recorded loop (that only is one chord progression long), but as soon as the chord progression has finished it's first run, recording stops. Right?

Is there a way to make the TRIO+ continuously replay (loop) an entire song with several learned parts? For me it only plays the song through once and then stops. For practicing I need the song to loop. I tried teaching it the whole song (40 measures), but perhaps due to being more than 32 bars it makes mistakes in chord changes towards the end of the song. Thanks for any help!

Excellent. Thanks a bunch! How do I know how many loops I have saved? Can I delete an older loop - not the one I just recorded? Is there a way I can delete any of the saved\learned Parts 1 - 5? Thanks

I think you can do a total of 12 “songs” each can contain 5 parts. So essentially you can have 60 loops. You can delete any of those parts.
