my daughter just got her heart broken by her fiance! He put a ring on her finger, promised to put her name on the mortgage when they both got the house from my friend and she had a baby by him. You have a pattern with relationships and this is just my take on it; you are so eager to have the happily ever after that you are willing to sacrifice everything to get it. You gave up Luna for a guy, then you went through the house mess with the last guy. You pushed forward and got your feet back under you, after selling the adorable yellow allotment and buying your current place. You have not been in it long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Rent your house if you feel you must move, but don't let go of it. If things go bad and you have sold the house, it is going to take you longer to get back on your feet. I wish you all the happiness you deserve! I was just like you and I know it's hard to fight that urge, but trust me, protect what you have.

Maybe she would need to sell it to buy another home. I see it like this, whatever $$$ she puts into it he needs to do the same, and/or they need to draw up a legal contract specifying what her contribution is versus his. If she puts up 75% of the money then that is what she needs to get out of it before any profits can be made should they sell the home. It needs to be an equitable iron clad contract where she is protected.

I'm not sure what the common property laws are in your country, but if you buy property with someone without marriage, PLEASE have a contract drawn up so that you are both protected in the event it doesn't work out. I've made this mistake and left the relationship with nothing. I hope the best for you both but always protect your interests.

Wow, this is brave. But it is life. It has to go forward. I know, some think of all the work you put into this house now, and some think of the last boyfriend/house situation, but in the end it is your life. Go for it and never regret anything. Believe me, I have been there in my life and I have succeeded, failed, morned, fallen down, gotten up again and kept going. This is life. It is a constant movement and it has it`s ups and downs. Here's the thing: You could be right but what if you're not? You might be advising her based on your own experience in life. Every situation is different. I had a whirlwind romance 22 years ago and we are still together. I say go for it if her instincts tell her to. I will say this, unless he is going to marry her, or unless they are going to contribute equally to the new place, she should legally protect the equity she puts into the new home, so if they ever have to sell it, then she receives her fair share of her investment.

Not all couples turn into horror stories. My husband and I have been together 20 years (married 17) and it was a second time for both of us. We were pretty much inseparable from day one and I moved into his house but later got out together home. Every story can go either way but we all go into it with the hope it’s going to work…that how life works. If you move, lease the house you are in so you can receive personal income and have a place to go if things ever go south. I know it feels pessimistic to think of this stuff when you are in the honeymoon phase, but as someone who dated someone for 4 years before marriage I’ve learned that you can’t really know a person. I trusted him completely and he ran away with our teenage goddaughter. I was with him for 12 years and he is going for funds from the divorce he knows he doesn’t deserve so he can start a life with her out of state. In the beginning he was handy around the house and lovey. All my friends loved him, but some people wait to flip the switch once things get serious. It’s more common than you’d think. So, I hope things go well, but be sure to protect your assets and have a way out as an option if you need it. It’s not fun, but it is wise.

Looking at houses is exciting! But as lovely as it is, I agree that house is crazy huge and close to a busy road is a big no. Autumn/winter is the best time to view houses though, summer sunshine can make anything look promising. The countryside has been a goal of yours for quite some time, I always felt like where you are now isn't the forever place, just a stepping stone. What one learns, especially as a woman, with age are two very important things: A.) we learn to stop asking others for permission, acceptance and/or approval for our life choices. B.) we also learn that some things are simply private and personal so we don’t share them for many reasons most especially because when we share so freely it gives others a false belief that they have the right to weigh in on the matter and we appear by sharing, to imply that we need their acceptance, consent and approval, when in truth we do not! I think a lot of people are commenting an concerned, because we all watched her go through such drama and emotional issues after the last renovation with her ex-boyfriend and then escaping moving her things out in the middle of the night with her families help and are concerned same thing going to happen to her. So here’s my opinion about house-hunting with a new boyfriend- you can dream big and look; if there is a house you take a second or third look at, have a list a house inspector would look for. If you buy a house, do two things: keep your house and rent out- passive income is good, as it’s a plan B in case plan A falls apart. And, put the house in one person’s name. If in his name, definitely keep your house. If in your name, use your current’s house profits to pay for house you buy. And if it doesn’t work out between you and him, you have a place to go to. Also, moving way too fast, but psychos and narcissists move fast and want their target to be completely dependent upon them, for control reasons.

I looked at the comments first, but glad I watched the whole video through. I think you sound happy, comfortable, and excited about the future with your boyfriend and there's nothing wrong with that. Looking at a house is not a contract lol. I selfishly also hope you will hang onto your house for a while longer because your home looks like a dream, however this is your life and I have faith that there is room for both love and logic. I think you both made a wise choice to opt out of the old house - too much to take on, when you both have full-time jobs/businesses etc. I dont think anyone is being overly critical of your choices at the moment. Everyone means it from a place of love & doesnt want to see you get hurt again, BUT at the same timr, you are a grown woman who has learned a lot over recent years & Im pretty sure you wont let anyone hurt you ever again. My take on the situation is that Elise is an adult and obviously can take care of herself and make her own decisions. She didn't ask anyone to give her advise. She stated, "Don't freak out..." and that's what everyone is doing. I love your channel Elise and I love how you are an individual who is artistic and loving life! I understand satisfying your curiosity so I'm not freaked out. The only condition I "impose" on you for your next house is make sure you find one with a large garden! You know how much we love to see your gardens bloom! Have fun! (I checked out the Mill House and, omg!, it is huge! I love the outdoor space.)
