Hi Elise, I know it will be hard to sell your sweet cottage but there is no way you can keep up two gardens. I know how much work that would be. I absolutely love your new home and the garden is enviable! Once you sell your little cottage, you will be so absorbed in your new garden that I don't think you will miss it much. It's a very good idea to leave it for a season as it looks like the previous owner was into gardening and wouldn't have left any space unplanted. You and I have something in common! I too have bought a new house with my partner. It’s a huge step for both of us. It will be hard to sell my little blue house and move 500 miles away but I’m ready for this next chapter. I have such plans for a new garden. Hey, Elise. I learned something AMAZING this season and I have used it in my small garden and in pots too!! I don't know what they have at your garden center but if you can get some compost.. I got mushrooms and Cow manure compost at mine, put it all around the plants. It refreshes them with new nutrients for this spring season.!! I found out the beauty gardens don't use mulch. They use compost as mulch. Girl, even my seedlings are sprouts FAST. You are going to have an amazing garden. I can see so many things!! Good choice to wait and see. An established garden is a JEWEL❤

And about ur garden ur absolutely right that u have to leave things alone for a season because U never know what the last tenant planted. Unless u see empty space or unless u plant ur own in pots. I was glad I didn't do anything when I bought my home. Some beautiful beautiful flowers as well as plants came up throughout the season. The most u can do is remove all dead things like ur doing. Best decision I've ever made was to live alone. It's lovely after a long day after work to come home to quiet and not have to talk or cook if you don't want to. You just need a compost area and You will be set xxx Just got to the part of Your visit to Your sweet wee Cottage...She has been so wonderful for Your Soul and taught You so much ..seeing how You gave Her so much Love and Care was so wonderful and I feel that it was all leading to Your Own place with a Magical Garden , I know You will pass Her on to another Who will feel all the Love xxx
