As I am lazy, and not very technologically inclined, I'd love to see someone take that screen out, and put in an actual display that could be linked to the game with a RaspberryPI or something to show in-game feedback on the panel.

Arduino has a small Joystick circuit board with mini USB , you can connect a lot of switches / button and also has 4 axis for some Analog inputs.

@@chris2746 Precisely. The data Elite makes available is only in logs, there's only log data and key/button presses as interaction. Also you need the right arduino to run it as a game controller for it to work. The only easy thing to do is make some fake screens. Source: I made myself a button box for my setup.
@BenSollis3 жыл бұрын
The problem is one of cost! To do this right you need a Nextion touch display (costly) connected to your controller of choise (Arduino/ESP32, EDM32). Add in production cost for that is way above what the average joe-player will pay, and to make it lucrative. I could build this in a day with touch screen and write the necessary on day 2. The cost factor is huge. A decent nextion will run to 50 euro, an arduino 10 euro, development time, then we have the problem of 3d printing, costs and results. And because this is 'niche' the audience is limited.

I use velcro strips to fix my Virpil CM3 throttle to the corner of my desk. Because I use a HOSASAT setup the desk mounts on either side are both reserved for sticks. The velcro works surprisingly well. There's only a tiny amount of movement when first pushing the throttle forwards, but after that its solid.

The USB power would be enough in most cases. My Corsair Strafe RGB has two USB cables for example, but only one is needed, as the second is for the onboard 2-port USB hub. One single USB handles all the keyboard inputs and RGB lighting (per key). I'm sure that doesn't have 110+ RGB lights in it.

I really like the idea of this controller! Possibly the next iteration will have customised button forms to make it look more like the in-game ones. An functional display would be nice, and colour changing lights for the hat switches so that if something is active, or not, can be seen at a glance. Mountings for joysticks and throttles are severely limited. If they could produce mounting options for joysticks, throttles, and the panels, they'd be on to a real winner. As things are, people have to make their own mounting solutions for their chairs or desks with varying degrees of success and quality. The mounts that are available tend to be, as far as I can find, for racing sims and flight sims that are a whole PC/monitor/peripheral solution that are not feasible for most home situations. Most people just want something to attach to their chair, or clamp on to a desk.
