Probably one of the best tutorials i've watched for a game, explained everything step by step and didn't assume i knew how to do stuff in between. (like how to access cargo and set fire groups.) Thank you.

@AntiOhm7 жыл бұрын
An ASP Explorer is actually what is use when in a wing for mining and a Type 7 for solo. If you overcharged your powerplant you can easily run A-rated with a decent setup for mining and about 76 cargo slots in the ASP.

I have the Asp Explorer after a fair bit of trading. I made Merchant Rank and I've only been playing 4 days :) I think I'm going with a 6 bin refinery, class A collection limpets, and a DSS. I'm very happy, since my last ship was the Cobra Mk 3, I've been able to add a mining laser to my original hardpoint setup as well as one more multicannon since the Asp has 4 small and 2 medium hardpoints.

Well done, Ant. Lots of small details about mining I had no idea of. Question: Does the game make any effort to explain the differences in equipment ratings(other than price)? When outfitting a ship, how to you determine what is actually useful, i.e. power draw, distribution, firepower, storage, etc? Not just for mining but for *any* setup?
@ObsidianAnt10 жыл бұрын
It depends upon what you want, but the game isn't very good at explaining. For a combat ship you will want high firepower, but also very low power draw - which allows you to keep firing those guns. For an exploration and trading ship you will want to go for modules that have the lowest possible mass, as this will increase your jump distance. Mining ships don't matter too much either way, but a lowish power draw helps keep the ship cooler.
@sinephase9 жыл бұрын
The game doesn't explain anything at all regarding the ratings. One thing that makes no sense is you can see a down arrow for comparison with a module you're replacing even though they have the same rating or stat, like two A grade modules should be the same, right? I've seen them show an up or down arrow for comparison, even though they're apparently the same. Likewise for a stat that uses "pips", comparing two modules that have say two pips for a stat, could have an up or down arrow even though they appear the same.
@0lemus0lent09 жыл бұрын
sinephase when selecting parts from the store, select compare and it will show up your installed part next to the part you are looking at. Also parts have grades AND classes, so you might have looked at grade A part thats lower in class (smaller module)

I actually use an ultra-widescreen monitor. The resolution is 2560x1080 and this is what gives a lot of the FOV. However, I also set the fov to 68 in the graphics.xml file.

Hi ObsidianAnt. Has there been any word from frontier that they will work on the quality of life problems that plague the mining system right now? I picked up this game after watching this video about mining as i have always enjoyed the concept of space mining. After months of frustrations with the issues in the mining system i have shelved the game in hopes that the devs would fix it. It seems, however, they are more focused now on Horizons. Mining feels like it was an after thought and had a quick implementation with no plans on a re-visit. I understand you enjoy this game mostly for is exploratory value. Still, your insight on how the mining system could be improved would make for a welcomed video; as would a new tutorial on the limpet system and keeping track of the rocks that have already been mined.

Is the Adder a suitable vehicle for mining?
@Asgardians3t9 жыл бұрын
+Bödvar Im a new player to this game only played a few days got used to playing the game and i have the adder and i would say it is useful for mining its definitely better than the sidewinder and the hauler if u upgrade it a bit it can be great for mining and it doesnt cost much the downside is if u go in battle its maneuverability isnt great so its difficult to escape spaceships like the eagle or other high maneuverability space craft. Besides that id say its a great ship.hope this helps :) gl& hf
@amanofnoreputation21649 жыл бұрын
+Bödvar Not really. It's not very agile for a ship of it's size, it's cargo hold is fairly small, it doesn't have many internal hard-points for drones. The only good thing about it is it has a class two hardpoint for a decent mining laser -- honestly you're better off saving up for a cobra, it's better at weaving about an asteroid belt and is generally bigger, giving it plenty of space for more and bigger mining internals (don't forget that you have to squeeze a refinery in there too.) Bottom line: Big hardpoints + lots of internals + maneuverability = good mining ship. When you get better at it, you can do away with the maneuverability aspect as you'll probably be using collector limpets anyway. The best mining ship in the game, for these reasons, is the Imperial cutter. Side note: watch out for pirates while in supercruise. If they try to interdict you -- let them. It makes your FSD cool down faster. Pump all of your energy into the engines, boost like hell, and run until your FSD is ready. Make an effort to upgrade your real-space thrusters -- it could save your life.
@Asgardians3t9 жыл бұрын
well if ur in a place where no NPCs spawn and there are no players there is no need to worry about being attacked and in that case u can just use a type 9 transporter assuming u have the money to buy it im currently using type 6 and depending on what resources i find usually i find a lot of gold, platinum and paladium and silver too, depending on how much of it can usually make up to 1 mil per hour also if u find an area where there is a lot of painite and u keep mining there u can make a lot more than that
@amanofnoreputation21649 жыл бұрын
Asgardians3t Untrue. There is always a possibility of an NPC spawn, they are simply less frequent away from RES and a pirate can attack you in supercruise at any time, even if you don't have any cargo. (Fortunately my python is armed, so I just kill them for the bounty.) I've had both happen to me repeatedly. (It might have something to do with my rank/ the fact that I'm flying a large ship/ how much money I have, or some other variable that's affecting the spawn rates.) Be careful if you're mining in a Type-9. It's pathetically slow and poorly armored. Most pirates you run into will be in eagles, vipers, adders -- small fry (just zap them with turreted mounts) but there's always the possibility you'll get jumped by an anaconda or, worse yet, a vulture, at which point you're as good as dead if they catch you with a decent amount of cargo. Your best course of action is to keep watch of your radar and eject all of your minerals if one approaches. (Despite always badgering people for cargo, it's rare that they actually take the stuff, so you can just scoop it up again once they're gone.)
