At the end of the day, grappling is grappling. If you learn how to move your body with certain movement patterns, it isn't really that hard to modify what you already have mastered for something that is slightly different. Take Travis Stevens for instance; Olympic silver medalist Judoka that entered the Copa Podia BJJ tournament in 2012, with only 12 months of BJJ part-time training under John Danaher. He got 2nd place, competing against people who have been training BJJ since they left the womb. And, only lost in the final because he didn't learn the rules properly (he didn't know what an 'advantage' was) against BJJ legend; Paula Miyao. To quote Musashi; "Once you see the way narrowly, you see in broadly in ALL things."

The judoka is Fabio Basile, Olympic Champion in Rio 2016. The technique is called kouchi-gake. It's pronounced KO-OOCHY-GAKEH.

Chamizo in blue and Basil in white are great fighters for sure. Thanks for the content.

Answer to the name of the technique displayed by the Judoka: Kouchi Makikomi It is a small inside trip where you sacrifice your own body by wrapping yourself around him to throw your opponent backwards.

Judo is better than wrestling, judo teaches more brutal & efficient takedowns and also teaches stronger takedown defense, pay attention how judoka doesn’t even train to defend leg attacks as a primary source and yet defends them well Even Khabib, the greatest grappler in UFC history said judo is better than wrestling

@@smoothproductions725 yes indeed it is!!! There’s a lot of ignorant folks out there saying judo only works in a gi, without the gi judo is useless!!! Haha I advise everyone to go watch sakuraba’s(gracie killer) grappling tournament, 3 teams, catch wrestlers(ultimate form of wrestling) BJJ & Judo, NO GI TOURNAMENT, and the judoka’s dominated EVERYONE standing

Lombardo is too serious to mix up with this circus-like stuff, Basile not.
@haraldodunkirk1432 Жыл бұрын
I watched his footage before, found it a bit confusing: Chamizo is clearly not wrestling like he normally would. He’s assuming a semi judo stance, keeping it playful. If they were in singlets wearing wrestling shoes, Chamizo would dominate.

Yes I agree and from personal experience judokas can hit you with deadly unexpected counters when you try tie up with them in certain ways!
