In sparring for mma do I need both 7 ounces Shelly’s and a pair of boxing gloves or can I spar wit Shelly’s alone ?

It honestly depends on your gym and your sparring partner. If you're sparring in smaller gloves there are more limitations because of the higher risk of injury. So a combination of both would be wise.
