Elite Syncopations - Scott Joplin Ragtime Piano Rag Christina Pepper

A remake recording of one of my favorite rags: Elite Syncopations by Scott Joplin. This is actually the first rag I ever learned - I found a book of Joplin rags on our music shelf at home and liked the sound of the title. Enjoy!

Hi! I just wanted to say that the syncopation of the rhythms and beats in this piece was my favorite. The way you play with both hands in unison is an impressive example of orchestration. Also, the harmonization in the melody really makes the adigiossimo style stand out from the rest of the tempo and nicely complements the polyphony of the trills. I really appregiated this performance.

Excellent! Once we were recording Les Noces with the Chicago Symphony and at a final break James Levine asks if there is any digital tape left and if there is could he record some Joplin Rags. He sat down and ripped off about 10 of them, one being this one. You might enjoy his playing of it.

Weird, I also can't get that video to work. Anyways, I played it too slowly and not quite bouncily enough, plus you have all those nice theatrical changes of dynamics. It's a joy to listen to :)
