We’ve had other messages asking if this was about “so” or “so’s” post. Please note this was stripped from our live Podcast published last Wednesday. This isn’t about anyone’s specific post but how Dave feels. He said the same thing when asked about other peoples passing that were close to him.

Dave, the only reason we're here is because you were important to Westside and Louis, your views matter. We want to hear from people like you and Mark Bell. My condolences on the loss of your friend and mentor.

@@slee2695 Sorry that's not what the video was on Matt's channel. He gave all kinds of praise to Louie & told the story that happened. The fuck you think he's supposed to do ignore that ENTIRE true part of his history with them? No. So he told it like it is as he should've done.

@@ClickClack_Bam there's a time and place. Usually, people with a bit of maturity let bygones be bygones when a person has passed. If you're still not over it, dont make a video on it to profit off his death.

@@slee2695 How's he trying to profit off of anything by telling the story of Louie & him? He said in the video that he wouldn't have became as strong as he did without Louie. He said in the video he was reaching out to Louie to make amends from the past. So explain yourself here.

Fuck. When someone like Louie goes it leaves a hole. Especially to the people closest to him. Hope you find some solace in this time Dave. I know it's coming from a rando from the internet but maybe there is some value in the fact that Louie's and your knowledge have changed not only the training but the lives of thousands and thousands of randos from the internet to the better.

Your Tribute to LOUIE will not be a 2 hour podcast. You and probably others will spend the rest of your lives paying tribute to him. To get to hear you talk about all things LOUIE and WESTSIDE are priceless.I personally know a lesson you learned from him. Me and my wife came to Columbus looking for Elite fitness and Westside in 1999. We didn’t realize the Elitefts address at the time was your home. I Purchased 3 west side shirts and you gave me a sled strap. My wife took a few pictures and you answered some training questions I had. The lesson I know you learned from LOUIE is always share your knowledge and help others.THANK YOU for your time 23 years ago and GOD BLESS. I still have the strap and the pictures.

I heard Louie tell a story I believe on either Mark Bells podcast or Leo and Longevity where he discussed a phone call he took to speak to someone who had a major event in his life happening that day and even though Louie knew he was going to be late for an important and potentially lucrative business meeting, he prioritize this gentleman and his big day and supported that instead . That was above and beyond what I knew and liked about him already and that is something awesome that I’ll always remember about the man…

A good friend of mine and fellow powerlifter laboured 7 yrs under a bar to get from 405 to 531 (241 kg) and set a IPF Canadian Masters (40-49) raw record in the Bench Press exclusively using the conjugate method. We poured through the Westside method and the Elite FTS Bench manuals like they were the gospel. He went from 255 lbs to 330 in that time. Lots of blood sweat and the odd setback with injuries. Week in and week out he was at my gym, at home or at the fire station (he is a firefighter) training. He also supported a family, wife and two kids and the stress of his job at times took its tole but he pulled it off. I say all this because the system worked but also the never say die attitude that it breeds was a huge motivator. Thank you Louie and Dave for all your hard work and commitment to the sport of powerlifting.

He'd be glad your talking about him in a positive light. The man used to answer the phone to share his knowledge willingly. He's proud you went on to do eliteeft and now in this position to push lifting to a new generation of lifters.

I had a four year subscription to Powerlifting USA from age 16-20. I remember the first cover was Anthony Clarke on a bench press with a pretty lady lifter who I can’t recall her name, but Clarke had just benched 700 with the reverse grip. Great magazine. So many great lifter’s including West Side greats like Chuck Voegopel ( I apologize if I misspelled ) and Captain Kirk Karowski and of course you Mr. Tate and JM. Inspirational and motivational, but also really sound programs that were power performance based and were more applicable to the sports I was in than the bodybuilding programs, which I also love, but we’re just different methods applied for different reasons…

At the age of 16, I read a method book by Louiе Simmons. He inspired me as much as possible and motivated me to go to the very end, going through all the stages of hell. I live in another country, I am now 20 years old and I use Westside Barbell training methods. And my dream has always been to come to Westside and just shake hands with Louis Simmons. He made me a person who will go to the end and will not stop even in front of big obstacles. This year I was going to visit America and finally fulfill my dream ... But life takes the best people. This is one of the biggest losses in the powerlifting world. You were a legend and you will remain forever. Rest in peace the greatest Louiе
