Ofc they’re not real pull ups hence the the prefix they’re different than normal pull ups because it incorporates a more metabolic approach which is better when ur focusing more on building higher aerobic/anaerobic capacity whereas strict or weighted focus more on strength/hypertrophy. Cross fit athletes don’t “try to be” anything,rather they try to optimize several aspects of fitness while periodically testing and re-testing. I think a lot of guys who watched this video can’t comprehend the mindset of guys who compete out of this gym. Most of these guys Louie takes under his wing either fell on hard times or are avoiding rock bottom. Louie builds them up and gives them something to strive for. Powerlifting gives them an outlet for misplaced aggression or the stress of life and allows them to focus on staying straight. David Goggins another inspirational athlete and former NAVY SEAL stated, “Suffering breeds character. You cannot feel extreme highs without extreme lows”. So all of the grueling workout sessions and strained muscles aren’t just for the hell of it. Just like the world record bencher stated in his interview. He feels his best and most motivated when he’s so beat up he can barely make it to the bathroom. They don’t care about how they look or how they feel, it’s about putting themselves through pain with fellow men with the same mindset, very similar to military training. One of Louie’s prodigies Matt Wenning actually revamped special forces training and improved recovery and resistance to injury for the 75th ranger regiment. When you see the comments on this video where dudes are like “Lol look how beat up and unattractive these guys are; I’m glad I just train to look good!” Or “Wow these guys are just a bunch of juice monkeys”. Those dudes are most likely soft as shit and can’t comprehend pushing the body and mind past a place of comfort and into the void. Mad respect to the guys who put up with hardship and try to push past it. If you think it’s easy or can’t see the benefit of it, try pushing yourself out of the comfort zone and see how it feels. Maybe you’ll enjoy it or maybe it breaks you. You’ll never know until you try.
@leetlikelime5 жыл бұрын
it's not the void. it's just physical pain. they say it's just about having the right mindset day in, day out. annihilate your physical boundaries as many days as humanely possible with PEDs. i have to say i respect them, as someone who wishes he could lift more at the gym. However, I like to think that I see hobbies that became obsessions for what they are- escapism or a form of comfort gained from dwelling on an idea. ..so you know what breaks you, what does that make you? less flawed? no, what matters is that one is happy, and content in the end.

Powerlifters aren't concerned with their health. It's not for the sake of staying in shape or being physically healthy. They do it because they want to be the best, and I wished more people understood that level of dedication and passion in anything.

Lot of things left out for the newbie about Powerlifting: 1. Different PL Federations exist, what is a world record or national title in one doesn't mean nothing for a different PL Federation. 2. Louie is not sought out by all Elite or Avg. Powerlifters, nor do they use his training methodolgy. 3. Raw vs. Equipped... I will let you google that one; Louie trains equipped. 4. Certain PL Feds have different standards of lifting, different equipment, more stringent drug testing, etc... it's not all homogenous. 5. The peak of Louie/Westside Barbell ended with the emergence of Raw Lifting starting ten years ago; his style is a dying breed and his gym is only the strongest compared to what PL Federation they lift in; to say Westside Barbell is the strongest of all PL gyms/clubs is a misnomer as PL is not all on par w/ each other.

Weights, age, tendons and gravity will do a number on you eventually. Look at Ronnie Coleman. 8 time Mr Olympia, who lifted like a powerlifter, he's basically crippled now. They get addicted to it. It's like a drug.
@mgdub16 жыл бұрын
lairdriver he’s actually back to training now. Crippled? I️m sure in some way, who retains their mobility through old age anyway. Addicted? Yeah he definitely lives for that shit. Some people are willing to give everything and make sacrifices. It’s called passion. I️ don’t expect many to understand.

The thing about Ronnie is he lifted PL numbers with body builder form and that's what fucked him up. Those 800 lb squats for reps never fucked with his back, hips, and knees, lifting them with feet 6 inches apart and stopping high enough to keep the weight loaded on the quads and knee joints is what fucked him up. The 800+ lb deadlifts didn't fuck his back up, hyperextending every rep with all that weight did, as well as lifting so heavy A. while only weeks out from Olympias (when he is at his weakest and most vulnerable healthwise) and B. while taking alot of steroids known to adversely affect the joints and mask pain so he could lift through the minor injuries until those piled on and ruined his joints.

Lairdriver They are addicted to steroids which helps them lift more weight. Ticking time bomb for their organs. Serves them juiceheads right to die from organ failure.

I feel like most people who see this just don’t get it. As someone who started lifting weights at 14 and wanting to be as strong as possible I admire how intense their training is. Louie revolutionized lifting with the conjugate method. I wish I had all that cool unique equipment but these guys deserve it. I’m glad so many people can go to gyms and at least get a taste of what working out can do for your mindset and wellbeing. I feel like lifting has saved my life more than once.

*Equipped Powerlifting. Great that this is exposed to a larger audience, but the numbers shown and being talked about were achieved in suits/wraps. Props to vice for taking PL to more screens though! Anyone interested should search raw vs equipped powerlifting.
@hobmarg6 жыл бұрын
This. Geared/equipped powerlifting with chemical assistance. No problem with either of those things, but it needs to be recognized. Westside is NOT the source for raw and/or natural lifting.
@gnomewerks6 жыл бұрын
Has Westside ever claimed that it WAS the source for raw/natural lifting?
@benluben10586 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the controversy about Westside has a LOT more to do with gear vs raw than it does the open steroid use (which is endemic to a whole lot of gyms that aren't Westside). For those who are curious, the question of whether Simmons' methods translate to raw lifting is a controversial one, and the real core of the debate.
@samwroblewski7486 жыл бұрын

All they're doing is exactly what they want to do, and I respect them for it. At least they're not lying about steroids like most "natty" bodybuilders on insta. Steroids =/= results. Hard work = results.
@iphone2020202206 жыл бұрын
They are still taking steroids so half of the "hard work" is done by their body and the synthetic hormones. It's easy to spot a fake Natty. Natural bodybuilders/fighters would typically look small until they flex, The body fat percentage also can't go below 8% unless the person is on a calorie deficit. Impossible to gain muscle and get shredded at the same time as a natural, That's something only possible for juiceheads and they sacrifice their health for temporary gains.
@IISocratesII6 жыл бұрын
+Viewing Half the hard work...completely hyperbole, steroids are far from magic, and all they really do in reality is higher the ceiling, but guess what, every other cunt on steroids at the top of that ceiling so you aren't actually edging anyone else out.
@iphone2020202206 жыл бұрын
@ IISocratesII Who tried to "Edge" anyone out? I'm just stating facts. They are beta's on hormones. They have shitty genetics. Look at them, Midget bodybuilders. The real bodybuilders on juice were the Vacuum Abs that looked better than shitty Bubble Gut. Just stating a fact that they can recover faster and hit the gym harder, So the "hard work" is enabled by the drug. They are just like heroin addicts. Need to pay for their cycles.

I don't take steroids never have but it will only add 10%.If you can bench 400 - it might take you to 450 but you still have to train hard to get to where that 10% makes a record.

I'm doing bench press but I'm doing bench press slowly with less weight. I only did bench press with 45 on each side like 135 lb in my sets. I want to do bench press slow and not be in a hurry to get strong cuz sometimes if you get too strong too quick it's no good. I think in about a few months I'll be able to do $235 lb bench workout. I think in a few months I'll be able to do 2:45 as I'm working out
