One of the best collaborations on youtube ever. A big fan of both these gentlemen and their contributions, I can't tell you how many times I've watched this series, Dave drops so much knowledge in these.

So glad I watched this just for the breathing tip alone. Love the content!

Yes the breathing tip is GOLD for when you are going heavy

This guy John likes to talk about lifting more than actually lifting

Man, this was a really great video. It's very interesting to see the progression from step to step and how noticeable it is.

Dave I tried this technique and your cues. Totally worked even the stability dril . Thank u for this video

The squat is a very technical lift.

Nice to hear dave that you say "Chest up" or " arch your lower back" is bad ques. I agree that! Some people hear that kind of ques in some videos and they dont tell why they said that que. So when people hear that kind of stuff they try that in gym and year after they got spinal disc hernitation.

When I saw his bench I thought "Holy shit!" Then I saw the bands lol
@jasperm.80936 жыл бұрын
Yeah when I do reverse presses with only the bottom 10 cms having band tension I can do like 30 kgs more than I normally can because of all the speed generated from the bands

Everyone is bitching about how John interjects and talks with Dave, but he’s a physical therapist and strength and conditioning coach who literally has 7 years of school under his belt for his profession, not to mention 15+ years of treating patients and training clients. He’s not stupid and definitely knows what he’s talking about. Every good professional learns from someone who can teach them something new. This conversational tone should be expected between two professionals in their field of study.

What are the feelings of not going below parallel? Is it because Johns spine is not held neutral above parallel. There is a posterior tilt prior to touching the box. If the pelvis is tilting the spine is moving.
@ChristianBosse6 жыл бұрын
good point, looks like not a lot of people have noticed that.

Liked this right from the get go. If you've ever paid a high end sports coach before you've heard "FEEL ISN'T REAL" when they're instructing you and someone says something like "meeh that's not what the internet says."

Can someone tell me what this John's totals actually are? Comp records or video? thanks

Great video, but I did not understand the differences between the knee to feet positions with wraps, sleeves etc.
@wiscostrongman34305 жыл бұрын
DH N knee travel will be far less with knees on vs sleeves. If proper technique is used, knees will travel outward instead of forward. RAW.....if the same correct technique is applied in wraps, knees will move only slightly....suit and wraps, knees barely move at all.

Why is John learning the box squat as he normally squats raw?
@CSFREERUNNING6 жыл бұрын
If you followed John you'd know he's a big fan of the box squat.
@beefwellington68686 жыл бұрын
At 3 minutes in he says "I should add that 65% of our squats are on a box".
@willfull16046 жыл бұрын
This question is non sequitor. Box squat and raw lifting are not related
@jefferylord30685 жыл бұрын
i have no idea how box squats help a raw lifter
@sammy19954 жыл бұрын
Sternum up can be achieved by head position. If you look down, chest will be down. If the lifter looks straight, his chest will be up.

Dr. J is a truly terrible lifter. He should seriously stick to bodybuilding/physique stuff. He's not athletic or skilled at all.
