I don't take preworkout for motivation. It's because I just ran my ass off the night before for 17 hours in an ER and got awakened after 5 hours of sleep by my 3 kids...if you need motivation, this isn't your game. I do need to be awake to train though.

I’m 59 yo and it’s hard as hell sometimes to workout . Many days I just didn’t want to do it ... but do it I did .. some workouts were not as good as others ... but I realize consistency is the key 🔑

I can see your points, but my opinion on pre-work is much simpler. If it helps you, then it helps you. if it don't, then stop taking it. I usually always recommend people to just take a half scoop, but everyone likes to get into the zone in different ways, but overall I believe that even if the preworkout doesn't work, if it makes you push a few extra sets and you will become stronger, bigger, and better at what you are doing, then I don't think there is anything wrong with preworkout. anything used the correct will yield results, and its up to the individual to find that out, but you guys bring up an amazing point and I also have to agree to an extent.

Good comments on here. I like both stim pre’s and non-stim pre’s. I will have a cup of coffee right before I lift. But….I already know what I’m gonna do before I get to the gym. It’s not mindless chaos.

used to do the pre-workout often but as mentioned, it becomes a crutch and dependency. I find just having a little coffee an hour before going to the gym or doing a good warmup on the treadmill/exercise bike or rowing machine can be more effective at times.

Hey Dave. many high school "strength coaches" that I speak with tend to teach their athletes power cleans in stead of deadlifts. In my opinion cleans are still a great movement but don't stand up to the deadlift. I believe the clean is to technical to master compared to the deadlift and the risk vs reward isn't there (for high school athletes). what are your thoughts?

The best pre-workout is passion..Whether in the gym or the bedroom..If it ain't there take a nap, go to the doctor, or don't bother

My pre workout is a banana and a chocolate protein drink. I’m 49 years old and I swear this is all the energy I need to do a solid workout. Not a pussy workout but a real solid workout.

I think a lot of pre-workouts provide a placebo effect. The marketing, the hype, all that bullshit gets in your head. You want to go tear the roof off of the joint. The older I've gotten and the more I've trained, the more unhyped I'd rather be when I'm lifting heavy. I always know when I've stimulated the shit out of my CNS because I'll spasm for 3 or 4 days after a good session. Too much caffeine just ruins it for me. Just my 2 cents...

in my experience they are more targeted for pump and have a few ingredients that help with recovery.

Honestly I just started making my own. 6 grams of Citrullene Malate 6 grams of taurine And then I take caffeine depending on how I’m feeling. If I’m tired as shit and need to wake up 400mg, if I’m not tired at all but just want to be a bit more alert I’ll take 100mg.

I think stims and painkillers are behind at least half of the injuries and muscle tears we see in training. The other half is bad form or ego lifting.
