Well, Andrew is a man that have a big heart - bless him. What I really want to see though is the renovation and refurbishment of Kingston's infrastructures namely: expanded drainage systems, local road maintenance & improvement. From I was a yute, Princess, Orange, Church & King Streets massively overfloods whenever there's heavy rainfall - ppl using handcarts to cross these streets. Also foul water over-flows is becoming a regular feature for the past couple of decades. Downtown Kingston side walks are crumbling and filthy - there haven't been any maintenance over the years - all of these things and more need very urgent attention, like immediately please.

Its not the amount of floors, its the height of the building Some of the tallest buildings in the Caribbean are located in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. One of them is Torre Caney, a residential tower that stands at 178 meters (584 feet) and has 42 floors. It was the tallest building in the Dominican Republic until 2011, when it was surpassed by Anacaona 27, another residential tower that reaches 182 meters (597 feet) and has 45 floors, however The Pinnacle will be the tallest building in the Caribbean, reaching 300 meters (984 feet) .

recheck those heights, royal oasis is not even as tall as pegasus much less any of those buildings in DomRep. 300m(984ft) at 28 floors would make each floor over 35ft tall, thats the equvalent of a 3 stories building. if they construct it to standard 12ft floor to floor at 28 floors you would get 336ft tall building not 300meters

Indeed, unless he thinks the Spanish Caribbean in not the Caribbean, I don't know how he could have arrived to such a claim. Havana's FOCSA building, built in 1956, has 40 floors. The upcoming "Torre K", also in Cuba, will have 45 floors. Dominican Republic's "Torre Anacaona 27" and "Torre Caney", both in Santo Domingo, have 42 floors each... Again, the claim that this and a seven-floor building in Haiti are the tallest buildings in the Caribbean (one even surpassed by San Juan, Puerto Rico's "Caribbean Sea View Condominiums" and its many 20-something-stories buildings) is not only false, it is so far from the truth, it is laughable. @@EliteJamaica That is true. However, I am still talking about buildings that have almost twice the amount of floors. There is no way a 40+ floor building is shorter in height than one containing 26 floors (unless each floor is a two-story lofts - not the case). If you want to talk about actual height in meters, the aforementioned Torre Caney (42 floors) in Dominican Republic is 584 meters in height and these buildings will be 267 meters. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful project but claiming it will be the tallest building in the Caribbean is a total lie, one not even remotely true.

These tall buildings are not good for Jamaica, where there is one, more will come; they become a blot on the landscape and spoil Jamaica's scenic vews; Jamaica would soon resemble Miami. If this is progress, you can keep it!
@the-development-scribbler
@the-development-scribbler 9 ай бұрын
If resembling Miami is your biggest worry, then I am greatly concerned for you. Miami is one of the most modern and creative looking cities in the US that one would could only dream of visiting, so how is making Jamaica similar to that an issue? Miami also has many green areas within it, has one of the largest national parks in the US (the Everglades National Park) and has natural attractions to kill; so if you think Jamaica can't exist with modern and tall infrastructure alongside proper green areas and scenic views, then your idea of 'progress' isn't as progressive as you think.

@@the-development-scribbler Why do you think people still go to Jamaica instead of Miami with all that Miami has? Jamaica should create its own competitive advantage and having a lot of nature is it. @@l360b It's an exaggeration to assume that everywhere in Jamaica is the same. Where in Jamaica do tourists go to visit? Most likely Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril. Tourist areas that are known for nature and scenic views. Now look at places like Downtown Kingston and Spanish Town and tell me if they are the same. Also, re-read the part where I said "if you think Jamaica can't exist with modern and tall infrastructure alongside proper green areas and scenic views" Literally being between two plates in a non-issue. Dominican Republic is located on the same plate (and is arguably more earthquake prone than Jamaica) and that hasn't stopped it from developing proper. Same as Puerto Rico. This is one of the biggest stretches for limited development I've ever heard.

@@the-development-scribbler All parishes in Jamaica has its unique beauty and can attract tourists, thus the reason why they are trying to spread tourism. Not because DR is jumping head way off mean we should be as stupid as them and make the same mistake. Maybe its because of said development why we havent had any hurricane for over a decade while they have. Not to mention, a chunk of our country sank in the past. Again, if Jamaica try to look like everywhere else, it will not be the best, a smart business person know to have competitive advantages. I agree with having building and i also agree that it shouldnt be most of Jamaica. If the ecosystem is destroyed then the beauty of Jamaica will be as well.
