When I studied Kyokushin back in themid 80's, we wernt allowed to wear any gloves or pads of any sort. not even a cup. There were times a few of us left with broken nose, ribs and all we said was " good workout " I miss those days. Is this Richmond VA ? or Richmond B.C Canada ?

Absolutely. We have students that started at the age of 50 and they are doing great and even plan to compete very soon. Kyokushin is open to age ages and abilities. You just need to have passion 🙏

@@EliteMartialArtsRichmond Im 35? so thats no problem. I also have kickboxing experience and I DO fitness. how long does it take to master the basics of karate?
@EliteMartialArtsRichmond4 жыл бұрын
@@adopodrinje1499 that is fantastic. So you already have a strong foundation and good muscle memory. I guess with your previous experience, if you are training at a Goof Karate Dojo and do sessions 3 times per week, it will take you around 8 -10 months before you start to get a grasp of full contact Karate. Most of my students see results after 4-6 months of training but we have sessions 5 times per week and I can be quite demanding during sessions. Good luck with your new journey in life, its a great experience with so many benefits that will help you in life. Keep an eye on our KZbin Channel as we are constantly posting new and interesting videos 🙏

I am 23 and started 2 weeks ago. So yeah go ahead
@kauriwilson48764 жыл бұрын
@@adopodrinje1499 you have to have muscle memory as this karate, you have to self teach yourself once you are shown the techniques but do go to every karate lesson, because it will be repetitive. But keep in mind the techniques are advanced! And when it comes to kumite (sparring) you don't have time to think. You do w the basics! After all it is alive practice. It is cool you do kickboxing. Just hope your reflexes don't get them too much. Goodluck😅😁

So can i ask? What is like the goal of training karate? Was it to have a durable body? To have a deadly weapon? (Hands, elbows, knees and feet) or any mental goals or something like that cause im interested with it.

I know in most clubs and style in these days is get your black belt as fast as you can and no body hardening in case law suits all I can say thanks to the elite for keeping it old school 35 years ago we spent half the lesson body hardening which put me in good stead to get 3 Dan its no good learning to block and hit someone if you cannot take the hit of a block or the pain of a punch or kick. Its just nice to see KYOKUSHIN and my old style ARITSU KAI still sending true black belts out in the world with honour and not what we used to call polystyrene fighters because they are a danger to the person they are defending them selves against and a danger to them selves and they put a shadow over all martial arts thank you for this posting.
