It's amazing what Eliza did after Alexander passed, and what she was able to accomplish despite being a women in the 1800's at the time of his passing. Fun fact: the orphanage still stands to this day just under a different name but think of all the children that were given a home because Eliza along with some tiger women founded the orphanage.

Fun fact: When Phillip passed away Alexander's first born daughter, Angelica Hamilton, pretended like he was still alive. She was very close to him. A few years later, when Hamilton died, she went mad and she still played the songs on the piano that she sang with her father. Eventually, Eliza got to old to take care of her and she stayed at a friend's house until her death.

People keep going on about how Eliza spent her entire life trying to share Alexander's story that she didn't get to write her own. Little do you know, Eliza wrote her own story while telling Alexander's. Think about it, she raised funds for the Washington Monument, she spoke out against slavery, and opened the first private orphanage in New York, she was the living example of kindness and selflessness. So many things that are around today started with Eliza. You can't tell me Eliza didn't write her own story.

That's half true. In telling Alexander's story she tells her own story in parts, too. However, she was never a main character in his story, which means she was never someone discussed to the degree of Washington and such. As a result, we don't even know how she reacted to the scandal. We know she forgave him, but the idea that her initial reaction was to burn all the letters and get angry is just a theory because to this day her letters with Hamilton have not been found. It's theorised that she burnt them, but it has never been confirmed. So we don't know a lot about her, except from the little told about her in relation to Alexander's life and the accounts of others. Her story as an individual was never told like with Hamilton and such. The same goes for Angelica, though a lot is said about her.

Fun facts about Peggy: She died at age 42. She had three children, only one of which survived to being an adult. Peggy eloped, like Angelica. Alexander was with Peggy when she died, but Eliza wasnt. Peggy had been sick 2 or 3 years before she died. When the Schuyler mansion was under attack, Angelica and Eliza were both pregnant, and fled. Peggy was the only one that remembered the fourth sister and when to get her. She faced off with several Tories. When one stepped in front of her with a musket and demanded to know where her father was, Peggy responded he had gone to alarm the town. The Tories left, so Peggy basically saved all three of her sisters, and I'm guessing some of her brother's, lives. LET'S GO PEGGY. Edit: It’s been 2 years and I’m still getting replies, wild. Yes, she had a lot of brothers. Also most of this is alleged & yes her name was Margarita or something, Peggy was a nickname. This song still slaps tho

When he died, she dealt with all the criticism, but she carried on his legacy. She actually did something about his death. She interviewed all of those soldiers to get more stories. She raised money for the Washington Monument. She spoke out against slavery, and actually had views and beliefs to make this world a better place. She opened an orphanage and gave all those children love and care. She had the choice to do all these things, but she's Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. She's going to do what's right.

This whole song is made weirdly more emotional by the fact that in the play one of Hamilton's last statements was "Eliza my love take your time"

I saw someone on Tumblr say that with "the lord in his kindness he gives me what you've always wanted, he gives me more time" she doesn't mean that she got the time Hamilton always wanted for himself but what he always wanted for HER

Well actually after he was shot, he died the day after the duel.. So He would have definitely had more to say to Eliza. And the letter at the beginning of this song was the last letter he wrote to Eliza.

She had money but she used it for good. She also spoke out aganist slavey. She decaded her time to being a good person and she stayed stong though everything in her life from Alex cheating on her to losing her friends and family and watching them die. By telling Alexander's story, you have fulfilled his final wishes to preserve his legacy. You helped him get through his life and all the troubles he had. And you may ask? Who would preserve your story and legacy? We will, and we did. To tell the story of tonight. Sincerely, Everyone on KZbin who watched this.

Eliza is a true idol and a hero to all people. She forgave Alexander, even though she knew he had told Phillip to shoot for the sky and had also broken her trust by being disloyal towards her. While she was grieving for Phillip, a month before that one of the Schuyler Sisters, Margarita (Peggy) had d i e d and she was grieving her loss for that, as well as the loss of her child. Alexander couldn’t have done anything to make Eliza forgive him, Eliza chose to. That in itself is bravery. And kindness. Although, Alex literally could have said “No” to María Reynolds. Eliza chose to make Alexander’s legacy and life known over hers and that’s immense loyalty. Eliza is a model to all wives, husbands, and any sort of partner. We should all try to be like Elizabeth Hamilton!!! Edit 7/11/20: Jesus, thank you for all the likes!! :0

Fact: 211 years later, Eliza Hamilton’s orphanage - now a family services agency called Graham Windham - is still helping kids get their shot. Graham Windham serves thousands of kids and families each year. Just like Eliza’s husband, these kids survived a tough start in life. Graham Windham provides services like family counseling and treatment, after school academic support, health services, and other services that help kids thrive into adulthood. It's scary just how well the play, this animatic, just, EVERYTHING about Hamilton portrays how Eliza was, how she lived, because if you think about it, since this is all based upon the real historical figures of America, specifically the story of one of the most prominent founding fathers, and just how his life played out, of course, with some leniency. Now, taking this into fact, just consider how Eliza was in real life, if she was such a sweetheart in the actual play, and was as kind as she was in this play, just imagine how heartbreaking her story really is, she lost everything on the road alongside Alexander, and yet pushed forward, until she was hurt by his own actions, and even then, when she could have let the world forget the actions and the story of her husband, she pushed forward, paying his debts, pushing through her grief with her mothers, husbands and two of her siblings death, continuing to work forward, even getting her old house back after it was sold, and continued to work to publish Alexander's Biography, keeping a sonnet from their earlier years of courtship in a small pouch around her neck. Now, thinking about this, she was such a strong woman, and devoted wife, and she must have loved him more than life itself. Hell, she even sponsored the Washington Monument, AND built the orphanage, all before she died, and so much more. THAT, is what I call love. Alexander Hamilton, man, your wife is non-stop!

Honestly, this is probably one of the best animatics I’ve seen of Hamilton. It really shows that Hamilton wasn’t always a prideful man but also someone who struggled deeply inside with his mistakes. And finally, when he dies, he doesn’t know or doesn’t even think that anybody is left that actually appreciates him. And then, bOOM! Eliza, who he’s done the most terrible stuff to, tells his legacy and let’s him live on instead of “running out of time”. Thank you so much for this!

What can I say? The way you made this was so bittersweet. Angelica with her hands on Alexander's eyes when she died, surprising him. Laurens popping up every once and a while. Him walking with Eliza at the end. And of course, Eliza. Truly a strong, dedicated woman. She did everything she could to keep Hamilton's legacy alive. The way you portray her is amazing

CJ K John Laurens was Hamilton’s best friend and very anti slavery. He died leading the first black Battalion. There is a theory about Laurens and Hamilton being very gay for each other.

Eliza, you did more than enough. And yet, no one remembers her. In all the history books, she's only mentioned as Alexander's wife. No more. Not even the orphanage that she founded probably all by herself. History forgets, but we remember.
@mamasnok69156 жыл бұрын
and now thanks to this wonderful musical, Eliza was known more than just Alexander Hamilton's wife. If it wasnt for Eliza, no one would know how Alexander Hamilton was in the days...they might think him as poorly like Jefferson and Madison said. It was Eliza who brought back Alexander's glory back...This musical called 'Hamilton' is not only to Alexander Hamilton but also Elizabeth Hamilton
@chloes.50776 жыл бұрын
She co-founded the first private orphanage in NYC and she was truly the strongest and most amazing woman I’ve ever heard of. Also my history book only mentions Washington, Jefferson, and Madison. That angers me.

Ms Hammy My history book didn’t even mention Madison. ;-; it saddens me that we don’t learn about the founding fathers other then Jefferson and Washington. Even then, we don’t learn anything about them but the good things.

When she sang "I opened the first private orphanage in New York City," that really got to me. That's when I started crying. I have no idea why I watched it again. I'm crying even more now Eliza really was an amazing woman. Especially for her time. She forgave Alexander for cheating on her, survived throughout many miscarriages, and went through many of her loved ones dying. Even though so many terrible things happened to her, she decided to focus on making sure the people around her who passed, had a legacy that others would remember. And on top of all that, she went on to do great things for the world. She fought against slavery, opened an orphanage, helped raise and love many children, but still died hoping she had done enough for others. We all should follow in her example. The example of a true hero.
