I've always called it the Moss stitch. Lovely easy stitch and effective.

I learned it as moss stitch as well but I've also seen this one called the woven stitch. I've seen "moss stitch" used for alternating slip stitches and HDCs too.

@@zuzupierce1454 under the convention I mentioned seeing: "even" if the hdc's are aligned in columns. Similar to the distinction between the "even berry" and "odd berry. This stuff isn't entirely standard. In Spanish and Portuguese you just call anything that's a double crochet or taller "punto alto" and its construction can be noted the same way we might define a [cluster] once at the start of a pattern. Crochet is a chart-based art as far as communicating patterns goes. The common names are mostly convenient shorthand. I guess it's a bit like how "mountain lion", "cougar", and "puma" are all just different local names for the species Puma concolor. I suspect that's part of why Sarah repeats the stitch sequence aloud so many times. It helps anyone who might know a different name for the stitch or who might have vision difficulties, etc.

Beautiful stitch, I like the texture. Could you use it with a 5 bulky yarn for a blanket?

Row 1 was 4 loops on hook, Row 2 is only 3 loops on hook. What changed?
@carriemcclellan57232 ай бұрын
There is 4 loops on row two, I think with the flow she was doing the work it kind of camouflaged it
