I like all of your videos , but I particularly enjoy large wildlife like this with a mountainous background. Beautiful. I would enjoy seeing you paint a steam engine train going through the mountains if that’s something you like to paint.

What a great hour of learning! I, of course, love your roses, but your animal portraits really intrigue me. You generously give out so much vital information on every video. I really look forward to watching you every week. I would really like to see you finish the beautiful piece. I know that you paint horses in your westerns, but I would love to see you paint a portrait of a black horse. All the tones you would use and your brush calligraphy ... let's just say I would be thrilled to learn any and all you have to give on the subject. Your elk is so majestic! I have so much gratitude for this man. I picked up a paint brush for the first time back in March of 2023.. months ago! I've always been naturally good at drawing since elementary school. Turns out, you don't lose that skill 30 years later!! Although I'm a very tight hand painter ( I posted some on my own page here) I've listened, watched, and made notes over and over and over. I probably have 100+ hours so far on this channel. I'm learning so much, struggling and learning! I feel like I owe this guy so much already, and I haven't even sold a painting yet. Haha!! Anyways, I could go on and on. I bought heritage paint on Amazon and some from the Jansen website. Some items start to arrive today! I'm excited to be getting all these colors to continue my 30 days of Roses! I'm so close to getting my acrylic to look nice like his, but I know the heritage paints will put me so much closer to the results I want. Proper pigment and the idea of using water to soften or even being able to push with my finger using non toxic tools. Loose painting is HARD! BUT this has been such an incredible year for me on my new life in paints! Thank you, David, and I look forward to finding a group with other Jansen painters like myself. Maybe there's a group online i haven't found yet. This guy is gold.

Hi David! I'm a big fan of your longer lessons, and this one is superb! I was tickled pink to hear you mention that some lessons involving Schmidt's 'Grand Manner' are still on the 'to do' list -- but please know that there's no expectation for you to hurry. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that you're taking care of yourself -- and taking all the time you need. Lots of incredibly important stuff 'on your plate' right now -- and you know what Bishop Desmond Tutu said about how to eat an elephant, right? Was just watched this part of the elk painting; hope to see the remaining of it. I am enjoying all of the different subjects that you paint/ just hop from one subject to another. (flowers, western, landscapes, animals & all of the rest. At 83, not tech savvy, have a lot of trouble finding things (like charts on your site; finally located them, and downloaded the 3 that I found. There are other things you mentioned that I am having trouble finding. Another comment; what is the smear proof pen that you trace with on vinyl? The one I used smeared!

I don't use oil paints. I like modern acrylics. Safe for the environment and safer to use. Lots of good oil artists on youtube though. They are pretty amazing.
