To anyone confused why Ella did not think of doing this before, in the original book, it's explained new orders supersede old ones, so this trick wouldn't have worked. In fact, the whole Ella having to kill the Prince is not even in the book. This is what we like a call a "adaptation-induced plot hole."

@hlabhlabhlab5 жыл бұрын
Kind of condescending, just because it's a film meant for younger audiences and a film that's a comedy, doesn't mean it's not allowed to be deep when it wants to. That shows how versatile and not hollow the movie is: it had the ability to make the characters be silly and not take itself seriously but also get serious when the time comes or to show more depth. It's great that this was in this film and not somewhere else that would be "less juvenile". Ugh.

If she told herself not to be obedient, then that rule no longer applies because the curse is broken.

She can't be obedient if she was told to no longer be obedient. Had she said something "you will not kill the prince", then the act could've been stopped, but the curse would still apply. By saying she can "no longer be obedient" though, she effectively made it so following any more orders would be impossible without the curse fighting itself (effectively nullifying it).
