Yeah that’s what i thought as well It truly is a brilliant gift I just can’t understand that’s all it took. Like at no point did her mom or the elf woman ever try commanding her not to tale commands in 18 years. Never tried it

She actually does command herself to do things in the book to some extent. The problem is that the commands could be overwritten by anyone else’s commands. She’d only be free until someone commanded her to obey again.
