I was recently quarantined with COVID. I'm an introvert, but even I got lonely. I called people every day when I could stand to talk. Going through quarantine while actively very ill was quite difficult. I did get some human interaction when I passed by my roommates, distanced and masked on my way to the bathroom. I got even more when I went to the hospital, but luckily I didn't have to stay too long. The first thing I did when I was no longer contagious was walk to the grocery store, but it took me about an hour to get ready. I kept changing my clothes. I had so much anxiety about walking through the door. I knew I wasn't contagious anymore, but I still felt like a walking bomb. I live by a university campus, and before I went into quarantine, classes were not in session. When I came out of it, tens of thousands of students were there. My social anxiety was at an all-time high. I've only been out once since then, but it was easier. Anyways. I just wanted to thank you for commending those who had indefinite quarantines. Mine was difficult to say the least, and I'm still readjusting. Everyone was so worried about me having COVID that they didn't even think about the difficulties of social isolation for me, so hearing someone call me an incredible human being for getting through it made me tear up.

I had COVID for 28 days and then I had to stay away from people for 14 more days. That's 42 days. My lifesaver was my cat, Dusty. He kept me sane. COVID zapped my energy and most of the time I had a low-grade fever. So for the 28 days, I lost all sense of time or what day it was. Dusty made sure I ate and because he's a creature of habit he made sure that I showered most days. The two weeks while I was healthy and waiting to leave I looked out the peephole whenever I heard movement in the hall. Grocery deliveries were also a highlight for me. I had it easy I was at least at home. Being in a hotel room without my cat I wouldn't have lasted a week. Well done.

I don’t know about hotels in other parts of the world, but in the US a room with a shared door actually has two doors. So even if you opened your door, you’d meet another door, that cannot be opened from your side. The hotel you’re in looks fairly new so I think it has double doors.

It's interesting seeing both sides of that quarantine. I've watched a foreigner who lives in South Korea and was tested positive for covid, so an ambulance brought him to that same hotel, no info was given, they just asked him to bring a 14-day suitcase. He was so thankfull that the government was taking care of him, he was actually happy being there.

"And that's what happens when you're told you're gifted and talented growing up" Oh my God. Yes!!! No matter what I do, I always have the feeling that I need to be extraordinarily great at it. This results in frustration and me not practicing because I feel that I'm too bad... which leads to no progress. Therefore, even if I want to learn something, I never put enough time and effort into it because I always think that I should magically be able to do everything perfectly - which is, of course, the most unrealistic expectation you could have for yourself.

Just for your piece of mind: the adjoined rooms are usually separated by 2 doors - one on your side and one on the other. Basically you can open your door but not the other.
