47 oz Baking Soda
2 oz Cream of Tartar
1 oz Kaolin Clay
1 oz SLSA
30 oz Citric Acid
.7 oz Grapeseed oil (or oil of choice)
.3 oz Poly 80
1 oz Witch Hazel (+ sprayer with extra)
1 oz Fragrance (check manufaturer recommended %)
Mica or skin safe colorant of choice
Cocoa Butter Drizzle:

Hi Ellen. The silver spring on the mixer where the attachment goes is a pressure spring. You can twist it to lower the mixer further down into the bowl so you don't have to scrap the bottom of the bowl that much. Hope this helps. I love all your videos ☺

Love how you teach! Glad you got a stand mixer and so smart not to over spend. My husband bought me a Kichen Aid for Christmas years ago, yes you still have to scrap the bottom. If he had asked me I would have told him to not spend so much. Other than really heavy batters or bread dough I don't think there is any difference.

What a wonderful "make day" you shared with us! Thank you 😄 Your videos have really helped me move forward to bath bomb success! I also do two batches at a time, and with my last batch I put some of those lavender buds in my mold before filling with the bomb mix (blueberry lavender and chamomile fragrance, colored with purple kaolin clay) and everyone in the house loved it! The lavender buds hydrated in the tub to make a luxurious look and feel, even releasing a bit of their lovely fragrance. I'm very glad I picked up that jar from Amazon that you recommended. They also washed up very easily. I also appreciate your stand mixer input. I love my kitchenaid, but it is dedicated to feeding the family. I do still have to stir in the little bits on the bottom with most recipes. I recently got the much cheaper Hamilton Beach stand mixer for cosmetics projects and haven't done more than a dry test run. We're hoping to make some bath bombs today, and I was hesitant to pull it out for that. Now I feel confident that it isn't too much trouble! God bless you and keep you and yours!

Hi Ellen I'm glad you got a mixer for your bath bomb making. We have one and it saves a lot of time for us. Mine is a cheap one for my bath bombs and we have a KitchenAid for my kitchen. Even with my KitchenAid I have to scrape the bottom to have an even mix. Your bath bombs turned out beautiful! Great video!

Thanks for another spectacular video Ellen. The doughnuts look yummy enough to eat. I recently got lovespell. It is a great scent. Lavender and chocolate sounds scrumptious! I used to use florals in my soap and bath bombs. People out here are on septic... one of my wholesale customers asked me to make everything septic safe. Now i pipe my florals or use sugar decorations. I have 2 kitched aids. Have them in storage right now. I think they dont get everything on the bottom. I love the cocoa butter drizzle.

I hopped on Amazon to see about getting this mixed (I need a 2nd one) and it looks like it has doubled in priced since you got it. You said you paid $80 and now its $169.99! Yikes - talk about a price hike!! Enjoy the mixer - they were a game changer for me. Also, look at your instructions - you may be able to adjust it so the paddle comes closer to the bottom. Kitchen aid has this feature but I wasn't aware of it until about a month ago and have been a kitchen aid owner for 25 years! :)

Hi Ellen, I purchased the same mixer from Amazon. I replaced my kitchen aid with the new one. I had a unique problem with my KitchenAid in that product will go to the sides it would never get incorporated in. I have been using my new mixer for a while and I really like it and like you I agree I do not need the price of the KitchenAid if I plan to purchase something more professional I will just get a commercial grade mixer

It’s not the kitchen aid itself it’s the beater blade. Just get a beater bladder with a solid side scraper and it will mix the batch great.

My KitchenAid gets most of the bottom. They also make a paddle attachment w a scraper on it that gets EVERYTHING. I got my breast cancer pink one probably 15 yrs ago. I bought 2 white ones on clearance at Target for $50 each for my 2 daughter's hope chests. If you see ones on sale/clearance any body shop painter can change the color. My hub owns body shop so I wasn't concerned about the color.

Hi Ellen, I just bought that scent too. I don't smell the lavender as much. I love that is smells like chocolate and doesn't discolor. I see a lot of people use the paddle when making bathbombs on the Kitchen Aid. Maybe try that part so you won't have to scrap so much. They also could be editing out all the scrapping of the bottom in their videos tho😊

Ellen am sooo glad you got a mixer! Good for you! I got one similar at Christmas time, it works great at under $150 bucks. Be careful tho fragrance oil will melt/mess with the clear plastic spatter cover🙄 I learned the hard way. (Yes everyone scraping the bottom of bowl) Love watching you grow! Say hey to the goats! Hi Ellen 🤗 I use the plastic beater thing on my stand mixer for bath bombs. It scrapes as it goes, so nothing sticks and the ingredients come out really fine and well mixed. Hope that helps ☺️

Hi there, I do have a kitchen aid and it works amazing! I was going to get another mixer to have 2 of them but I’m afraid I won’t be happy due to the fact that the kitchen aid work so great. These are great! 💞 I like to use sea salts coloured with micas for decorations on soaps, bath bombs etc. One recommendation though is you really need to invest in some proper bath bomb colorants like lakes (easiest) or dyes. They are so vibrant and dazzling in the tub too! 💖

Ibhave a Kitchen Aid and you do have to stop and stir. As far as I know, because of the bowl shape, you have to stir every mixer out there! You'd think for the price, it'd stir itself, but no!!! However, I do love my Kitchen Aid. For every skin product I make! Except soap of coarse! It is a powerful machine. I also have my Mom's ancient Mix Master and it's better than my Kitchen Aid! Seriously, it is a work horse, it comes with 2 glass bowls 4 & 6 quart.You also don't have to stop and stir, except once. I don't think they make these anymore. I haven't found one, I'd look atc2nd hand shops! It's the best gift my Mom left me! I hope that doesn't sound rude does it? Jill Gross

Hi! Why do you add baking soda to the cocoa butter drizzle recipe? Just to add thicker consistency quicker? Just thinking that cocoa butter it self is going to harden back once it’s melted..

Yes, it's a thickener and helps the cocoa butter to melt fatster in a hot bath.

18:18 I have a kitchenaid and I need to scrape always the bottom and the sizes. You only pay that amount of money cause it’s marketing. I use my techwood robot, it wasn’t cheap but takes 6 liters of volume and it mixes all the bowl. A cheap and fantastic other one I have is a silkvercrest. The only one I gave up using, is just there for decoration is a kitchen aid.

I bought a used kitchen aid, it’s sooo small 4.5 qt. I’ve made whipped soap, butter and bath bombs. I do have to scrape but I’ve had to scrape only once…. Even the small 4.5qt kitchen aide was 129$ USED, & it’s old. C’est la vie.

What about the seam around the bombs? Do you not shave that off?

I like the edge around the middle, but you could shave it off, or don’t fill the mold as much…

@@EllenRuthSoap oh ok I guess it's really up to the maker. I like the smooth look. The donuts are really cute and I love the drizzle on top. It really sets it off and the sprinkles add that extra touch.
