He forgot about about how the NHL helped Boston win in the 2011 series. And the ref by turning a blind eye to very late hits that even broke a back without nothing.

@@senortano All the eastern Canadian media was going for the Bruins.....no mention of the league changing the rules for the Finals. All year the refs were calling the slashing, hooking and holding.....but in the Finals, all that went away. Raymond's injury was hardly mentioned.....while they made the hit on Horton as bloody murder.

I, too, am impresed with Elliotte's coiffure. I think this is the first time since the dawn of the pandemic that he doesn't look like he just got out from behind a departing Boeing 747. Respect to E.F. for his comments about Bieksa and 2011.

One of the things I love about this show is that it's the anti-corporate sports channel. Nobody's coming in wearing a suit and tie from Z Zegna after spending the morning at the gym - because actual sports analysis and hosting matter a lot less if you don't look like a model. I don't care about that stuff. I just want to hear good analysis and commentary. That seems to be dead on television for the most part. Kevin Bieksa has managed to navigate that better than anyone. He's still abrasive, honest and entertaining, but he knows where the line is. It's a testament to how good Elliotte is that he hasn't been replaced years ago by someone with a personal trainer. Rogers can't get rid of him because he's too good at his job.

And these guys are good. TSN has a classless, juvenile panel member named Jeff O'Neill who never has anything worthwhile to say, but they let him make crass comments about anyone as long as he speaks highly of the Leafs.

One thing is always a given anyone who worked at or still works at the CBC and HNIC is guaranteed to be an apologist for the media. Elliot knows damn well that there are plenty of eastern media guys who still barely even know where Vancouver is let alone have seen Hughes play a lot. Maybe they see the odd game here or there and a road trip ,Ike the current one is a good showcase for Quinn’s talents and domination but for the most part out of sight is out of mind.

If everyone knows how good Hughes is then why is all the talk about the best defenceman all about Cale Makar
@DavidAllison-qs8wnКүн бұрын
Why not Makar? They're both great, both Norris winners but it's sort of an apple to oranges comparison. Both are amazing and it's awesome to have some competition between them from time to time.
@CarharttCowboyКүн бұрын
@DavidAllison-qs8wn look at their plus minus. Hughes is a plus player whereas Makar is a minus. Hughes is a better all round player. Maybe not as dynamic but he's also more important/valuable to his team and the captain

Were Rick Middleton or Alexander Mogilny even close to how great a player Hockey Hall of Fame player Kevin Lowe was? No. They and hundreds of others were much, much better. It's probably been at least 10 years since the HHoF has inducted a group that should have all gone in. They elected a guy this year whose biggest contribution to hockey was tampering with officiating to fix games.
