Sonny isn't given enough credit for the talented songwriter and producer that he was. This was one of his best-loved songs.

I would give my eye teeth for a return to the kinder, gentler world of 1965. People danced, sang along and had fun listening to music. Of all their songs, this one if my favorite.

I was in Kindergarten when this was a hit. I grew up in a very musical family, with six older siblings and parents who listened to and/or played music, so I was around music literally from the day I was born. By late 65 I 'd already been a music fan for about two years. This brings back memories of those days in the fall of 65, along with 'Everyone's Gone To The Moon', '1-2-3', 'You've Got Your Troubles', 'Save Your Heart For Me'.... Great memories!

A nice pairing- Ellis. I still feel sad they broke up how they did! Hard business for fidelity. And when Sonny died, Cher's pain was SO sincere and surprising- he was the love of her love, it was clear at his funeral- when I watch this so long ago, I feel something "odd" - in the first clip from what 1965? I can't explain it, like something paranormal and I am not given to those kinds of vibes! The feeling doesn't happen every time- that's why I find it peculiar and nice! ( not being sentimental either, an "eerie" feeling and no, I am not psychic but I wish I could talk to a genuine one- ) Namaste from Nightowl in Canada.

the reason why cher sang all the lead in this song is because sonny wrote it for her, and itwas about what cher told him about her life growing up.""(Now living in Los Angeles, Cher's mother began acting while working as a waitress. She changed her name to Georgia Holt and played minor roles in films and on television. Holt also secured acting parts for her daughters as extras on television shows like The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.[5] Her mother's relationship with Southall ended when Cher was nine years old, but she considers him her father and remembers him as a "good-natured man who turned belligerent when he drank too much".[7] Holt remarried and divorced several more times, and she moved her family around the country (including New York, Texas, and California).[5] They often had little money, and Cher recounted having had to use rubber bands to hold her shoes together.[7] At one point, her mother left Cher at an orphanage for several weeks.[8] Although they met every day, both found the experience traumatic)""
