This wonderful song, kind of pushed aside in their famous years, is a melancholy gem.

Sonny and Cher! Classic... two hippies that had a dream and would not be defeated by anything! "Overnight sucess" is years of toiling in obscurity and starving for what you dream about! Sonny was a driven man with ambition and Cher was his shy , angled and awkward muse, at the time... the rest is history!

Sonny was a real music man. You can hear it even here, he adjusts his voice for his artist (Cher) always making her look good. She still struggles with passing notes sometimes but he is ever steady with his intonation. sounds like they sang one overdub on the original recording, you can hear him dropping the 'go'. slurring it down a half step, then on the high notes He is the high voice. and it's hard to say if Cher emulated him or vice versa, him matching her tone. The 17 year old voice of a girl and a 30 year old guy are identical. here. her low contralto-alto and his high unaffected timbre, he kept her upright either way. Til her looks gave her the confidence to sing in front of people. But...bringing her to a professional background vocal session - so they could get paid , I i imagine, was risky because that girl could not sing in tune. I guess she blended in somehow. she never could sing in tune exactly, of course, that's why -how - she became the. queen of the auto tune with 'life after love.' What a monster she unleashed and Yet here we are. I love her back then, and him, and wonder why he was such a clown for her. Did they really think it made them more money in the. 70's, making fun of themselves in the 60's? Anyway, when you hear the basic riff he wrote this song off, it's really something, it's so. Italian! and the sound of the clavenet or whatever that is called now, so haunting.

I wonder what Cher is up to these days. Haven't seen her in a while.

Cher's probably just enjoying being a grandpa... listen to her admit it. WE WERE JUST CRAZY GUYS! See how Cher sits on the piano...not with legs crossed 😮. Not even mentioning the Adam's apple!

Wasn't so different...a man portrayed as a woman in Hollywierd. Cher has admitted it and the 1973 performance in the pink dress suit...visible proof is right there, moving as he dances.
