Never apologize for reviewing a rare bottle. I hate when people complain about that. Just because it's hard to get doesn't mean the review isn't entertaining or informative. Great job as usual, cheers man!

I agree. I think people get butt-hurt (lol) because they can’t get it, but even if I can’t I enjoy hearing if it is worth hearing if it is worth pursuing if I happen to hit the lottery or find a pour in states sometime. Enjoy it brother.

Used to buy reg ETL for about $35 but haven’t seen it for about 6 years in Columbus, Ohio area. Saw one on a shelf in Vermont couple years ago for about $130! I passed. Love me some Elmer T.

For seven years and searching in as many states, I found my personal unicorn ETL. Indeed, scored 2 bottles. Was not disappointed. Perhaps BT will produce other 100 proof versions of this and it won't take me so long to find it.

Well Rock Hill Farms is the other 100 proof mashbill 2 release but of course...that's hard to find too. It's frustrating.

I just won a raffle that is an Elmer package (5 bottles). 100th Anniversary, Death Bottle, Wax, 90 proof BUB and Single Barrel. Not sure which bottle I should be most excited about? Thoughts?

I feel like you should credit Clay Risen's article on GoBourbon titled "100 Years Ago Today, A Bourbon Legend was Born: Elmer T. Lee’s Journey to Greatness." You read a significant portion of it in the first couple minutes word for word.

It's a shame that the industry has priced this way out of the pocket range of the average consumer. $400 and up is ridiculous. Eventually, this may hurt the industry. I am the average consumer who works hard for a buck. No reason to pay over $60-$100 for a good bourbon. However, I have good bourbons less then that price point. Good review of history.

Nice review Jason, I’m glad you did review the 100th anniversary. I knew you would eventually because of what the bourbon is and who it pays homage to. I’ll probably never find a bottle at msrp or even what I think is a fair price, so it’s nice having your notes on it, cheers man!

Great review as always. I hope to find this one day. I still have an unopened bottle from the last year Elmer was alive. I just finished my opened bottle over the holidays. I wonder if they might keep making the 100 version since it is so different from the original. Hint to the marketing department at Buffalo Trace. Thanks again.

History lesson ftw. Sounds like a great evolving pour. I can only hope that when/if the bourbon boom settles down a bit that it'll be a little easier to find some exclusive bottles, even the normal ETL and Blanton's. Nice find with this one!

would rather see a side by side of ETL100 vs RHF... same proof, same mashbill, maybe different age? i'd venture to guess they're just about the same juice. both tough to find though.

Loved this video, Jason. Before the tribute came out and I knew a higher proof offering was available, I always said I was underwhelmed by the hype of ETL and wanted to try it at a higher proof. Hopefully I get to find it at a bar at some time.

I very much enjoy the Elmer T Lee (I got 2 bottles last year ) Its lotto only in my province and retails for about 59$ Canadian ( I think that's 44$ in U.S) IDK if the 100 year one will be lotto'd off here, i'll keep my eye out, I have one regular ETL left, It's fantastic for the price, Nice review here, I think what Elmer did , his entire history is just exceptional,
@TheMashandDrum4 жыл бұрын
When the regular Elmer T. Lee was 40 bucks it was such a good value. Unfortunately now it goes to lotteries and is upcharged in most cases. But if you can get this at a somewhat normal price its a great bourbon for a story and to share.

Great review Jason, I do like the standard Elmer T Lee and will be bugging my sources here in Santa Cruz. I do notice with all the Booker's and ECBP and other CS bourbon that the ETL seems pretty good not great for me now. So that 100 sounds like a winner, just a bit of a 🦄🦄🦄🦄
