I wish all of the ELO albums from El Dorado all the way through Out of thr Blue would be reissued as strictly instrumental orchestra mixes. With the original Louis Clark Orchestration and group instrumentation. I would buy every single one of them and listen to them every day.

I can understand why some people here are having tears while listening to this medley. I am feeling emotional too because we can hear the strings so well in these excerpts from Xanadu. The ending theme from Xanadu is really something. It’s the part of the movie where Kira appears in a sparkle dress. The violins are so vibrant, it’s amazing. Thank you for giving us another dimension to this music. ❤️❤️❤️

This includes an alternate mix of the strings on Xanadu, which is very different than the released version. Much more bold with the strings playing very high. I like it better. It also has the string part at the outro of Don't Walk Away, which tragically on the release is part of the fade out.

This is such a treasure trove because the Orchestral part of ELOs music was being toned down in the mix later on and I think this album was the last to have a full Orchestral score. To hear it properly is amazing, as it is on any of their tracks from this period. If there are any more in the vaults, I'm sure us diehard fans would go crazy to hear them. Thank you so much for putting this together.

@norwoodbuilder75294 жыл бұрын
@@ottaviomini6390 In 1974 Jeff Lynne wanted to bring a big sound to the ELO recordings, so he brought in Louis Clark as a string arranger and conductor. What happened next was magic -- the golden years of ELO (1974 - 1980). During these years ELO released their most commercially successful and beloved albums including Eldorado, Face the Music, A New World Record, Out of the Blue, Discovery, and the Xanadu soundtrack. Without Louis Clark there is no orchestra (Jeff cannot read/write musical notation and he cannot conduct an orchestra). Jeff is an AMAZING MUSICIAN and in my opinion the BEST EVER, but it took a team of very talented musicians to make the incredible ELO sound and Louis Clark is an esteemed member of that team -- he is the "O" in ELO.
@ottaviomini63904 жыл бұрын

@norwoodbuilder75294 жыл бұрын
@@ottaviomini6390 The significant impact that Louis Clark had on ELO shows up not only in the lush orchestral sounds, but also in the album sales. All the best selling ELO albums and highest charting hits feature strings by Louis Clark. Louis has also done impressive work on his own, just take a look a Louis Clark's 1981 "Hooked on Classics" album which sold millions of copies and charted in the top ten in many countries -- the guy is amazing (I think he single handedly outsold the ELO Time album in 1981-82). There are some fans that like to give Jeff Lynne sole credit for ELO's success and he certainly deserves major credit, but please do not marginalize the other band members and especially Sir Louis Clark who will always be the "O" in ELO.

Although the movie has a thin storyline, its decent. To be frank though, ELO, Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly _not_ being in the movie would of made this absolutely a completely forgotten, transitional-time 70s-into-the-early-80s 'flick' that we can ALL figure that teen couples would of much more than originally would of rather enjoyed necking, touching boobs and their privates in the aisles than actually paying attention.
