I don't understand how Taylor Swift has grown so big. She was always popular but it was just normal levels. Then this tour happens and she basically becomes a huge part of the economy. I had no idea she was basically one of the biggest artists to ever exist.

In chip manufacturing probably ASML and Zeiss are among the most significant players. ASML produces the photolithography machine and is the only producer that has reliable Extreme Ultraviolet production that is essential for bleeding edge chips. And Zeiss is practically the only supplier of the optics necessary to get those machines to function.

A big part of the reason why it's so horrendously challenging to find work in marketing and related fields is because companies prefer snapping up people with engineering backgrounds to fill business positions. It's actually gotten to the point where something like 70% of engi graduates end up working in fields unrelated to their majors, often business or management, and that's not helped by the fact that increasingly engineering companies are refusing to consider recent graduates for anything other than the lowest valuation/responsibility positions. (and that's spurred on by the recent layoffs in tech fields, particularly IT/cs positions)

As one of those engineering people (aerospace degree) who is now in a business/analytics role, the reason I ended up here is these roles pay more for fewer hours and are just easier. In many cases, entry level engineering is a grind in bad jobs that are repetitive and very niche, often in an area you aren’t interested in. Imo, engineering salaries are just not that high and if you can do well in thermodynamics, you can do well analyzing marketing campaigns

7nm or even 5nm wouldn't mean a breakthrough for SMIC. 193nm DUV can do up to 5nm in theory, but getting good yeald at 5nm is most likely not economical. Even 7nm seems to have been a struggle for SMIC judging by their output. Maybe China will go for it either way because they literally don't have access to 5nm any other way so maybe the price is worth it. If they get beyond 5nm that would be a strong indicator that they've been able to make EUV happen domestically. I think the US sanctions are a double edged sword. It's good in the short term and it was in a way the catalyst for the CHIPS act. However long term it just means that China will build up their chip manufacturing capabilities even faster. SMIC was struggling to be competetive before the sanctions, but after the sanctions they're competetive because they don't have competition.

My child isn’t even 2 and can count to ten name a dozen colors and greet,, say bye, blow kisses, and be social. A bit selfish yes, but loves to interact with everything. She will speak out loud what she’s doing half the time following a video which is cool or help from us. We only get about 5 hours of screen time a day, that’s from iPads, tvs, phones. A collective. BUT WE ONLY SHOW EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS. Its super helpful and we as parents do spend that time weather she’s on or off screen working with them along the way. So we don’t use screens as a replacement but rather a interactive boost. We go a couple of days a week with no screens being outside swimming walking etc. You can’t let it do the work for you. Watching this video tho, I’m scared parents are doing the opposite, like having a ipad as a babysitter rather than a potential benefit.

The China chips thing is propaganda, thats why Huawei to this moment haven't made any claims about the processors in the phone. Several sources have demonstrated that the chips in the new Huawei phones are old intel chips that have had their labeling erased and re-printed (this is a very simple process with the sorts of laser machines that are used to do this which Chinese manufacturers possess). Indications from performance are pointing to them being from 2020-ish when they were likely stockpiled. The heat spreaders and visible traces are identical, Even the naming/numbering scheme is just a few of the numbers switched around. The most likely intent of this propaganda is to influence the US to think "Why bother with the sanctions since they can do this themselves." China is desperately trying to get the US to lift sanctions on microprocessor imports because it is destroying their economy. The Chinese economy has a massive issue with constantly replacing new things that don't need replacing in order to create work for people to do. Without the chips a lot of money that is typically cycling in the Chinese economy is stagnating.

people keep saying taylor swift had a billion dollar plus tour but the source of that claim is very deceptive. it comes from a forbs article and if you read that article it states that "she is projected to make 400 million dollar because her average ticket price is 250 dollars however if her ticket prices were 750 dollars she would make 1.5 billion dollars" this is where the stat comes from it's very deceptive and obviously paid off marketing
