@dchubworldsharenetworkАй бұрын
What do you mean game changer, sleeping space behind the seats has been in the game for as long as trucks have existed. If you mean the Tesla truck, yes, the first series doesn't have a sleeper, but in general, there has been a sleeper behind the seats in trucks for decades. Nothing new here... 👇 "Although Freightliner is credited with the first 'sleeper cab' in 1953 and it probably was the first factory built sleeper cab, trucking companies and drivers had been adding 'sleeper boxes' to trucks or trailers since the 1920s."

@pboston6RRАй бұрын
FSD is THE best feature of my Model Y. I use it every trip, just tell it where to go and leave the monitored driving to the car. With the multiple cameras it “sees” in all directions and is constantly evaluating the behavior of pedestrians and traffic. It moves to give pedestrians greater clearance and slowed down to keep their behavior in check. Cars approaching from side streets are given the idiot test and if they are threatening to make a dangerous move the Tesla sounds an alarm just in case. Using it on the expressway its performance is excellent. It constantly evaluates the driving conditions and alters the cruise speed to suit its best guess for safety. Having this in a semi truck would be a game changer. The inside camera will know when the driver is not paying Enoch=ugh attention and will alarm and possible take evasive action. FSD is outstanding! And it will only get better.
@niteriderevo9179Ай бұрын
FSD is nice, yes, but it does still need the driver to pay attention and take over if it tries to do something unsafe, have seen more than a few instances of the driver having to take over and go 'nope!' when the FSD tried a move that isn't permitted or would have put the car or someone else at risk, or tried to push into a gap it could not fit

@HildaFarah-e4jАй бұрын
Are there any specific regulations in Europe that might affect the deployment of Tesla Semis with FSD technology?
4 күн бұрын
Quite a few, actually. Typically, the allowed length of a truck in Europe is the total length, including the cab, which is why trucks have a flat nose in Europe. To meet various regulations globally, Volvo Corp, for example, has manufacturing plants in the USA to adapt to the regulations in the USA and for that market. The total weight is also different. Overall, 40 metric tonnes, but many countries allow more, such as around 60 tonnes in Sweden, and longer total length (18.75 m overall) at 25.25 m and in some other countries as well. To be competitive, Tesla has to be flexible to deliver trucks meeting very different specifications. All others do that. FSD is currently not allowed in Europe. As a first step, it may enter service on highways within a few years to come.

We're still a long way from autonomous cars, and even further from trucks and semi-trailers. The answer to accidents caused by fatigue is not FSD, because FSD requires the driver to be fully attentive at all times. The answer to fatigue is simply rest. This concept has long been accepted in aviation, and is integrated into pilot planning. The same should apply to truck drivers, who should not be allowed to drive for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time, without a break, and a maximum of 10 hours a day, or even 50 to 60 hours a week.

@dimetime35c17 күн бұрын
Dont see how you can blame tesla for the driver falling asleep. Personally i dont think FSD is the solution. What id like to see is a system were the driver signs in then it tracks how long theyve been driving continuously. Then after a programmed time it automatically pulls over at the nearest rest stop and locks out the drive train. We all know drivers arent going to do it themselves so there needs to be something that forces them to take the rest break. FSD is only going to cause more crashes because drivers will trust it 100% and instead of monitoring the vehicle they will be doing everything else.
