While this is effective rhetorical strategy, it… is not good here. Probably you just don’t realize some of the illegality in the PREMISE itself. The PREMISE itself is flawed. It only makes sense if you don’t know the law and trust what they are saying without questioning. Like other commenters mentioned, we already have an ACTUAL legal congressionally approved agency which does this. The GAO. The Government Accountability Office, which of course, by its nature, is supposed to be completely independent and nonpartisan. It is both advisory, in terms of advising congress and the executive branch about ways to make government spending more efficient, as well as having auditing/investigation authority. This is headed by the Comptroller General of the United States, a permanent appointed nonpartisan position, like the FBI director or inspector generals are supposed to be. Like a JUDGE is supposed to be. The GAO of course isn’t the only part of government built to internally investigate. The Office of Inspector General, is a generic sub-agency that is a part of almost every federal agency. Their entire job description is to investigate fraud, waste, abuse, and embezzlement within the federal government, and specifically within the agency they are assigned to. Trump just illegally fired (presidents need extreme and specific reasons to fire any inspector general, or really EVERY non presidentially appointed/partisan job too. You can’t fire civil servants without proper specific cause…specific cause about that INDIVIDUAL) a DOZEN Inspector Generals, and without the required 30 days notice and explanation to Congress. Why would Trump want to fire people whose sole job is to investigate financial corruption and fraud within the government? Hmmm. Really sounds like the whole premise of “efficiency” and “preventing fraud” is a ruse and big lie to tell the public. Especially as the BIG LIE here is that Elon needed access to the Treasury to “investigate”. And is talking about how they’ve never stopped a payment. Wanna know why that’s bunk? Because it’s highly illegal. The treasury CANNOT legally send money or not send money anywhere it was not appropriated to in the last Congressionally passed Appropriations Bill. The Treasury is simply supposed to be the highly secure paperwork/boring job of exactly following Congress’s budget. To do otherwise would be grand theft on a scale not seen before in the US. This is why I and many believe the reason Trump is now talking about a Sovereign Wealth Fund for the US at the EXACT same time as all this Elon stuff, is that they are planning on diverting a large amount of the US Government/American People’s money towards their own little slush fund that wouldn’t be controlled by Congress. Sovereign Wealth Funds are ONLY ever created by countries that have a budget surplus. So it’s insane on its face. How can the federal government stash away billions and billions of dollars for “investment” when there are 36 trillion dollars in debt? And the only way a SWF would be legal to begin with is if Congress reallocated some of the federal budget for the SWF. The fact he’s talking about it now I believe gives the game away. They are making the full transition from oligarchy to kleptocracy (where the rich oligarchs don’t just control but literally rob the government corruption has gone so far. This is like Russia).

The big issue that the media has been unaware of with all of this is the Privacy Act of 1974. There are a handful of exceptions (I go through them on the most recent video on my own channel), but it essentially makes it illegal for one government agency to share this kind of information with other government agencies or anyone else. The US DOGE Service is not an agency that has an exception nor would any purpose it would be working with justify an exception. It would also have to go through an extended review period open to public comment to be legal. Musk taking this information was blatantly illegal under US law. He should be fined the maximum $5000 for every record he took (and with 300 million of them, that's enough to bankrupt him) - though I'm not sure the fine is per record. There is a similar fine for anyone who gives it to him - so Marco Rubio should suffer the same fate.
