A big part of this is so many investors just lost grass while technically WOTC and sadly Hasbro were raking in the dough, all during the collectibles boom. Its a shame to see D&D paying homage to western deconstructionism. I hope Elon gets a team of investors and buys them up and liquidates hasbro. Sends their board games to the ad supported "free" market, where they belong.

Because the top demon needs to have a good weapon against other demons who want their chair.. In the old D&D lore Vishnu was not stable in their position as head of a pantheon, they had to regularly fight off challengers to their position/throne. Those challengers were also demons. In the old D&D manuals, before the creation of TSR, all "gods" were in fact demons. It wasn't until AD&D that this changed to have a distinctive split between Angel's and demons. (When the different planes were implemented.) At that point Vishnu became a force for good, and as such would also have a demon slaying sword, because his primary enemies were still demons, just no longer half of his Pantheon.
