GM used to say it costs them $500 to make a Chev and $550 to make a Cadillac. If it costs say 25% more to make an EV but the price is double, then that is why the public says EV's are too expensive. Even with incentives and low cost of ownership. They are just too expensive for the average consumer to buy. It's the old conundrum - price it high to make profits? No price it low to make sales. it probably won't launch in 2025 agreed But, I think the reason is the battery. I "see" so many new battery architecture coming to view every week. And they are all amazing. And they are ALL superior to Lithium. In every way but one. That (one), that is the Achilles heel for that specific battery formula, is always different. Sometimes it is the (temperature) (maybe it can't handle cold weather) that requires to much attention. Sometimes it's (charge density) it's not even as good as Lithium. Sometimes (charging time). And, always, in every other way, except the one, it is always phenomenal. So, there will be a better one that clears the bar. And, then. The model 2.
