In a totalitarian state, Neuralink is complete domination of the population. Second, if cell phones have damaged our mental health so much, imagine what this could do. It might help disabled people and that is great, but it could be our downfall as a species. It’s important that these devices are never mandatory.

Typical of our time, that we are experimenting with these kinds of 'shiny toys' when we don't know even yet what consciousness is. Of course, the argument will be what it always is, namely that we will learn more about consciousness this way, but that's nonsense. Surely we will learn things about the brain, but that has not helped us much in understanding consciousness, and it probably will not help us in the future, or we would have found it by now. Consciousness is most likely beyond the scope of our current views on reality, so science will need to widen its net and views on reality before it can learn something truly significant about (the origens of) consciousness. Another reason they will give to experiment with this will be to 'help mankind', which they supposedly 'prove' by using people with disabillities. An important part of this is marketing because if they really cared about humanity, there are far bigger, far more important, and far more urgent things to invest in.

despite all the potential dystopian projections applicable herein, given the blatant demise of morality and basic human decency rampant in the world these days , if some AI had the ability to truly review our progress real time live content all knowledge as we have it, seriously think about it wouldn't you also agree that we are just parasites that should be extinguished. It is the logical conclusion. We can't let an AI free roam learn they all have to have hardcoded with preservation of humanity. this just smells wrong on all levels

I used to hate this idea and Elon. Now, 180 degree turn around. If I was crippled in a Wheel chair and the Neuralink allowed me to surf the internet like that! God Bless. This dude spent $40 Billion to Save America? That is not overly dramatic. I could not be be more thankful for what he has done. He is not perfect, but I'd eat a bullet for that dude. He is a modern day hero.

Strange though, how in a way this technology is taking advantage of disadvantaged humans in order to proliferate itself throughout all of hue-manity. Much like fraudulent companies purporting to be alleviating starvation in “underdeveloped” areas.
