As a Brit this is embarrassing. The advert was so dated and looked ridiculous. It certainly wasn’t elegant or sophisticated. It looked cheap and silly. Surely they couldn’t think most of those characters were attractive or aspirational? If it truly wanted to be inclusive where were figures with diverse disabilities? Would any of the characters on that advert ever own a jaguar? What customer would truly like to look like any of them? What a profound misjudgment at every possible level. The issue was not intolerance of people of different races or sexualities but an understandable dislike of the ludicrous deeply flawed advertisement!
