Of all the types of cars to make, Hybrid (gasoline engine, battery, and electric motor), or Gasoline Engine only, or Electric car (battery, and electric motor), the Electric car is the easiest car to make. Legacy car companies don't want to make electric cars, because they lose lots of money in service fees (oil change, transmission, belts, radiator, tune ups, etc). GM proved the point with their 1996 electric car. Today, 23 Governments are forcing car companies to make "zero emission" vehicles by 2035 to 2040. The US has a bill to sell only zero-emission vehicles in 2040, but its going nowhere as usual. California is working on its own law. You will see a flood of EV's in the next 3 years, and that will make it hard for Tesla to compete. Musk is the King of Hype, we will see how he handles competition. @@b.l.2130 I don't think you realize how much billionaires are on the take. First off, they lobby our government for subsidies and tax breaks. Second, because wealth is based entirely on resources, there's only so much to go around. The more it concentrates on the top, the less there is for everyone else. And the less they pay in taxes, the more everyone else has to. Both billionaires and successful politicians have many of the same narcissistic and sociopaths traits. Any system that allows either to be in control of public policy is bound for failure.
